At that time I also turned on my a/c that worked perfect yesturday and it was blowing hot. Does anyone know what it may be and how to fix it please????

I have the same problem, except the a/c in mine is fine, was told the guage cluster was bad, had a new 1 put in just to find out that it still did not fix the problem, from what I have been able to find out, there is a wire that runs between the ECM and dash that has either shorted to ground or just plain burnt in to, hope this helps you, Tim

I had the same problem with my van. I would look at the brake master cylinder there is a switch screwed into it with a 2 wire plug these are known to leak and or be bad disconnect the switch and see if it is wet on the plug if so it is bad, also you can jump this switch and then drive and see if the cruise works if it does then you know the switch is bad. it cost about $45 at the Ford store.

I replaced the switch but am still having the same problem. Could the wires be the problem? I followed the wires as far and I thought necessary and saw no issues with them.

Replace the gage cluster you should be able to find a cheap one on craigslist or ebay if not the salvage yard should have one.

The sensor is attached to the output shaft of the transmission and should not be affected by the work that you did. Are the ABS sensors ok?

Odometer not working in 98 windstar

If the speedometer does work, but the odometer doesn't work, then you have a bad speedometer head assembly. The speedo head is a microprocessor that gathers the info coming from the vehicle speed sensor and translates it for you on the speedo and the odo. If one is working, but the other isn't, then it is getting the VSS signal, it just isn't processing it right. You could also be experiencing the below issue: The Brake Pressure Differential Deactivation Switch (SCDS) (2B264) located under the Master Cylinder (Behind the Air Filter) over time develops a leak. This causes a short and a fuse trip, fuse #10 if the engine is on. This leak also causes brake fluid to wick down two wires to the ABS brake module (2C219). The fluid accumulates on the (always on) power connectors for the ABS brake system which are powered by fuses 101 and 102 and are both 40 amp. The fluid attacts moisture, road salt and leads to a fire when the fluid and moisture act as conductor between the hot leads and ground. This switch has been the subject of other Ford Recalls, just not the Windstar van yet. Below is a picture of the switch in question. Notice the fluid that leaked on the part below it. This switch will cause cruise control problems, speedometer, odometer and ABS brake system problems.

1996 Ford Windstar 3.8L, Brake light is on-brakes work fine

Abs light on means the ABS sytem has a fault.
You can determine what is wrong by counting the flashes (they say) and then put the data in on the web.

IE abs, windstar, failure, 3 flashes.

The brake light on is most likely picking up on uneven brake pressure, or a failing master cylinder/
You may not feel any difference yet, give it a little time, feel for a pedal fade at a light.

ABS and brake on 2001 Ford Windstar come on randomly

Do you mean the van is actually braking like a Starsky and Hutch move or that the warning lights indicate that they are on? If its lights then you may be low on brake fluid. Maybe a module leak
