Hi, the likely problem is a worn out wheel bearing. See if it quiets down when turning. If it quiets when turning right, it's the right bearing, and vice-versa. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

It is probably a wheel bearing front hub. or could be a body panel loose humming in the wind. We can only guess, you are the one that hears and feels what it is doing .

Sounds like you need a front wheel bearing or hub assembly as it is called.

It sounds like a wheel bearing is in need of replacement. If you really feel up to the task you can raise the from end of the car and lightly shake the tire side to side. you should get no clunks or free play. Or while driving you can note on which turns (left or right) the sound gets worse (this is not as reliable). Either way you should take it to a shop and let them properly diagnose/replace the bearing. If let go too long it can cause poor steering and can damage other nearby components.

Something is rubbing some where, possibly on the inner wheel well liner.

1996 ford contour loud humming noise and vibration from front wheels

You have a defective wheel bearing most likely, the noise sounds correct for that problem. have a shop drive it before you replace anything to confirm my guess.

does it get louder above 45-60mph? and much quieter at low speeds. It could be wheel bearings, a rear differential or front differential. If its a grinding humming noise its wheel bearings, listenin to see if theyre coming from the front or rear, left or right, or both when your driving to know what wheel bearing are bad. If its a whinning noise, its probably a differential. check and listen to hear if its coming from the front or rear. Also, check for loose plastic around the wheels. Lastly check your tires for uneven or choppy wear. move your hands front to back on the top of the tire. does it feel really choppy and rough, maybe you just need new tires

I would start by checking your wheel bearings. Do this by pushing back and forth on the top of your tire or car near the tire. If the tire wobbles back and forth at all your hub assembly should be replaced. For this problem I would check for this first.

Bad tires or bad shocks. 2004 Ford expedition has a loud humming noise, gets louder the faster you go. we bought this car used, the tires are uneven, but I somebody told me the humming could be that the...

There are several points this could originate. Bad tires will normally cause a distinct vibration of the steering that can change in intensity dependent on speed.
Bad shocks are less likely to cause a hum of any kind and if 'blown' will produce hard knocks when hitting larger bumps. You can crudely check shocks by 'bouncing' each corner and watching how it recovers; if you let go at the low point, the shock should rise slightly above level and return one time only, not dampen out with decreasing movement.
I would be checking the engine/transmission motor mounts for signs of torn or cracked rubber or cracked metal. There are normally three mounts; two on the engine and a third on the transmission housing. If one of these has failed, it can transmit engine noise to the body of the vehicle producing a hum.

I just bought an2003 ford explorer 4x4 and i have a loud humming noise coming from the front end tires are brand new it has around 190,000km please help

If the noise is only when the vehicle is moving it sounds lek you have a bad wheel bearing. You can inspect ford move ment or play shaking the tires up and down and left to right while lifted up on hoist or jack. If there is no movement doesn't necesarily mean the bearings are okay, however if there is movement in bearing replace and drive again. Antoher way to determine Which wheel bearing is bad is to drive and turn to the left, if the noise gets louder than it mens the rightside wheel bearung is bad. If you turn to the right and noise gets louder replace driver side front wheel bearing. Also Rub your hands across your tires, does it feel wavy or uneven, you could have cupped tires, I DON'T KNOW HOW NEW THEY are but cupped tires will also make this noise. One way to see if it is the tires is to do a rotate If noise changes at all then you no its a tire causing noise. Hope this helps.

My 04 ford explorer is making a loud humming noise when driving. The noise is coming from front and gets louder the faster you drive.

Try to rotate the tires to rule that out.If not then it sounds like the wheel bearing is going out, on some cars you can replace the bearings on others youi have to replace the hub assembly

Rumbling in front tires

You probably have a bad wheel bearing or bad tire on left front. when making right turn left front wheel wil spin faster than right making noise louder.
