will if its 16 valve it has to be a DOHC so it must be a 1.4L DOHC.

code P1781 Transmission control module (TCM) detects that malfunction of engine speed sinal for 2 seconds ( this code can be caused by an engine miss fire)

    cause of failure

    engine miss fire

wiring harness or connector between engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM)

    ECM

    TCM

code P0700 TCM requested that the ECM turn on the check engine light ( it is caused by the P1781)

codes are the same for the 1.6L i still think you have an engine miss fire, a good old fashand tune might cure the problem ......good luck

P0700 - Transaxle Control System Malfunction
The transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. When the TCM detects a malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. The ECM stores the P0700 code and it means the TCM detected a malfunction with the transaxle controls.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Driveability problems
- Transaxle shifting problems

Possible causes:
- Shorted or open circuit within transmission control module (TCM)
- Failure of transaxle control module

Since the P0700 is just and informative code, check the TCM for more codes to resolve the problem and is related thiw the next code...

P1701 - Reverse Engagement Error
Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

EPC stands for Electronic Pressure Control. In the electronic trannies there is a solenoid which acts as a pressure regulator to make sure you have sufficient hydraulic pressure to control the various parts of the trannie. To throw a 1701, the computer sensed that the gear range lever was in the reverse position and noted that the line (control) pressure was low. Could be caused by the SS1 solenoid not operating correctly, possible it is the EPC solenoid screen is getting plugged. Could be valve body issues as well. (separator plate, loose bolts, leaky gaskets. Could be reverse servo leak, could be reverse clutch and or the forward clutch. In order of ease... trannie in car... separator plate, loose bolts, gasket problems, low/reverse servo, solenoids. Reverse and forward clutch would be rebuild issues.

Hope this helps.

    Stay related with the P0700...

DTC P1781 - Engine Torque Signal Circuit

This code is set during engine start up when the ECM & TCM do not communicate
properly during initial power up. It will only illuminate the service
light if the condition occurs in 2 consecutive start cycles, but the DTC
will be stored in the failure records after the first cycle.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

    Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon indicator lamp
is illuminated. Technicians may find DTC P1781 (model years 01-02) or
DTC P0802 (model years 03-05) (Transmission Control Module - Incorrect
Voltage Level on MIL Request Circuit) stored in the ECM. This condition
will usually occur during engine start up. This code sets when the ECM
and TCM do not communicate properly on the initial "hand shake" during
power up. One module may be powering down during crank due to a low
    voltage situation.

    Recommendation/Instructions:

Note: For 2001 vehicles refer to TSB 01-06-04-020 for the latest ECM
calibration. Check the vehicle for a possible weak battery or a dead
battery in dual battery applications. Also check for possible poor
battery cable connections, poor grounds, UBEC connections, or possibly
an ignition switch dropping out during crank.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step.
If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step,
the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not
resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic
    assistance.

    Models:

(01-05 Chevrolet Silverado) and (01-05 GMC Sierra) and ( 03-05 Chevrolet Kodiak) and (03-05 GMC Top Kick).

I have a nissan murano 2005 with the code p1701 and a p0340 how can i use them to repair these codes

Nissan Murano P0340 2005 Nissan Murano - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit
Possible causes- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor-
Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection- Faulty starter motor- Starting system circuit-
Dead (Weak) battery
P1701- Fuel trim

I would suggest replacing the camshaft position sensor. When the sensor fails it can cause changes in fuel system that the computer can detect. So I suspect once the camshaft sensor ivreplaced that the P1701 code will be gone.

Transmission down shifting to 2 code po 700 or but it does not shift to 3rd gear anymore was resetting it 1st time lasted a month then every 2 or 3 weeks now i can"t reset it anymore no codes

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. What does the code p1701 mean on the obd II computer on a 1998 calilac catera?

P1701 Transmission Solenoid Malfunction

"All,

I found my problem. It was the 10A fuse for the flasher. I replaced this fuse and my turn signals worked, the power steering worked, and the transmission shifted normally.

Strange as it sounds. I took the fuse out because I did not believe this would have caused these issues and, sure enoughm the above issues were present. I put the fuse back in and viola - everything worked.

Hope this helps others."

What do i need to replace to fix error code p0700 on a 2002 dodge intrepid

(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request) Translation: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure. P0700 Information Code The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM. This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes. So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it.

I hope this helps....let me know if I can assist further !!

Car does not run ,I check the code ,it is P0700

Because it is not starting, you should replace the Crankshaft sensor (above the oil filter, back of the engine)-it will cause a P0700-I have a 99 SL2, 178,000 miles

The dealer probably saw the code P0700 and went to the TCM and pulled out the code stored there telling them the Transmission Solenoid Assembly (TSA) is bad. This is a good example of understanding what the codes actually mean. If the manual you looked at said the TCM is bad and to replace the TCM when you see a P0700, then it is wrong.
