Question about Ford Fiesta

1 Answer

My fiesta 1.8 diesel timming belt has snapped after three weeks of being fitted,my thoughts are the belt has been fitted to a cold engine and tensioned to tight and when engine has warmed up and expanded it has tightened and snapped . How can i find out if there has been any damage to valves without taking the head off . Thanks Dave

A "bore scope" might be able to see any damage without removal of the head.

Wat is the period for changing timing belt in ikon 1.8 D diesel engine

Good Morning

I just happened to be reading about these last week. Ford suggests that the belt be checked every 60,000 miles by a ford certified tech. They will look for wear and tell you when it needs to be changed.

Hope this helps

How to fit a new alternator belt

If it's just a single belt and you know where the belt tightener is you can do it yourself. Just loosen the tightener up, put the belt on and tighten belt so there is about 1/2" deflection when you push on the belt in the center of the pulleys, then tighten the bolts.

Fiesta 95 no pulling power

please bear with me on this? but with engine running? stationary not in gear does the engine respond ok ? ie will it rev up with no problems ? i assume it starts fro cold/warm no problem ? please say which engine fitted and is it the carburettor type ? as for the screeching if car has power steer ? may well be drive belt loose so as you turn the pump load causes belt to spin on drive pully if this has been for a while then may i suggest you renew belt as it may be impending a premature failure/snap so no power steering! when you least need that to happen ? hope this helps
