Question about 2005 Ford Freestyle

Awd malfunction light is on. Took it to shop where they followed fords instructions and replaced the sensor that monitors the oil pump. 375 bucks and the light is still on. what else do they need to check? does not seem to be impacting driving and is not overheating.

They will need to pull the AWD codes and diagnose the problem, it hard to say whats wrong without testing the system, this sounds like there guess and throwing parts at it, hate to say but maybe have the dealer diagnose the problem, there is a problem with the main wiring harness rubbing into wires on the ac line, have them check that out and make sure theres no damaged wiring, this is located on the right back side of engine compartment.the last thing i know is theres a reprograming needed on some of theses because of tranny shifting, good day

I had the same problem with the AWD light coming on. First I was told it was a sensor that went bad. When they replaced the sensor, the same thing happened again. Come to find out, it was actually a bad computer module that was frying the sensor...4 trips to the dealership and $1200.00 later!! I pick the car up tomorrow with my fingers crossed that it'll run properly!

Sounds like a problem with your catalytic converter or possibly just an o2 sensor. If it is a cat problem I would make sure to have them address it b4 your warranty is up as they are typically very expensive!

I have a p1237 code, what does it mean. and what can i do to fix it.

P1237--Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Malfunction

It could be an issue with the fuel pump
Also there are several other steps to follow,
before arriving at a bad pump
Most involve some type of short, detected in the
wiring along the way. That is the short explanation

You really need a diagnostic trouble chart to follow

So,you will have to seek help at a local repair shop
I wouldn't give away extra money at a dealer.

Sounds to me like it could be a bad oil sending unit or gauge. I would take it in to a shop and have them test the oil pressure with their equipment.
If they tell you the pressure is good try changing the oil sending unit first then if that don't work, replace the gauge.

My son's 2000 Protege's check engine light came on after he had an oil change done at a local dealership. They did a free quick scope check and said it was running lean and provided a printout of possible...

Common for the engine to lean if the MAF sensor is dirty, start with the simple and inspect the wire leads and clean the MAF sensor to MAF sensor cleaner. Just follow the instructions on the can, this is more common if you have a performance K&N or any type of oil base air filter.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya, keep me posted, be glad yo help you get your car running 100% again soon.

Check engine ligt is on

A code P0171/P0172 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
  • There could be a vacuum leak.
  • There could be a fuel pressure or delivery problem
Possible solutions include:
  • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure
Hope this gives you some direction! Thank you for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC
