My 1996 Ford explore xlt and my driver side window will not go up or down on its own. I can force it to roll down and pull/push it up with my hand. When I push the button to roll it up I can hear the motor going but I think the gears if u will (not to sure) is stripped. When I take the door panel off everything is behind metal and can't easily get to it. How would I go about removing the motor and/or gears to inspect it?

The window may have come of the track, if you can hear the motor, it's probably fine. If the window moves around freely, it's most likely of track.

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer XLT. The window will not go up. I got the panel off and the motor was extremely hot. All of the other windows work. I can't afford a new motor can I manually roll it up?

You can probably force it up using both hands on opposite sides if you can get it to start up. You may have to reopen the door panel to get it started.

1996 Ford Explorer driver's window won't roll up

if it was running slow then yes i would say the motor died. to replace you have to take the door panel off not too hard of a job if you have some mechanical abilties. i would look online for the part you can usually get it a lot cheaper than local auto stores

My 2002 ford explored xlt, right rear passanger window won't roll up? Makes a noise for a second. But if you press roll down it sounds like it is trying to. But it is stuck in the down position now....

You need a new window regulator. The cable broke.

tascafordparts.com for a discounted part from the dealer, or this part from ebay, good price.

Item number: 150634145622

Ford part number 6L2Z-7827000-BA; right rear window. $139 new.

How do i remove drivers side door panel on a 2002 ford explorer xlt?

remove the door handle screw covers at the pull handle and hand grip, remove pull out window switch and chack for screws underneath, once all srews are removed about 3-6 of them, pry bottom of panel away from door with a putty knife there are a dozen or so plastic clips holding it from behind they just pop out, then the top of the panel is hanging on the edge of the window lip

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 and the passenger side window will go down but not up. Tried to pull it up by hand but to no avail. Is there an easy way to fix this without taking the whole door...

could be just a bad switch drivers switch or passengers switch test or replace both switches

if switch test good than the window motor is probably bad has enough power to bring window down but not up and for that u will need to take of door panel

Passenger side power window,on '99ford explorer xlt, won't roll up

Start by checingthe swich. If the motor makes noise when trying to pull the window up The swich maybe OK. The means that some thing is wrong w/ the rails on wich the Glass travels .You may have to take the door apart to see were the optruction is.
