Ignition... Hey there, My key will not turn to ignite this engine...I even pulled out my spare that has only been used a couple of times with no luck. Any suggestions?

pull the key and using a graphite puff pack ( from auto spare shops) puff the powder into the key slot . insert the key a couple of times and the tumbler pins that were sticking should loosen up and fix the problem

If the key won't turn in the ignition, it could be for a couple of reasons: Often this happens when the steering is locked by the ignition lock with the front wheels turned aside (e.g. when parking on a hill) or when one of the front wheels is pushed against something (e.g. curb stone). In this case, try turning the steering wheel left and right while gently jiggling the ignition key - this might help to release the steering lock.
Another possibility is that there is a problem with the ignition lock or the key itself. This happens; the key and the lock mechanism wear over time. Try to use a spare key. If nothing works, your local dealer is the best place to call.

Please ask a local mechanic to have a look as this sort of fault is not uncommon and could be the ignition key chip so try spare key ,a faulty ECU or even something simple like a mass air flow sensor or a blocked catalytic exhaust so its favourite to ask a local man then post what he says for verification

When ur keycan be pulled out even when ur running the engine or in the"ON" position. U have to replace ur old key or try to use ur spare key and see if it will come out of the ignition switch!

If it can't be pull out, the problem would be the ignition switch have to be replace, 'cause of eroded copper/brass pins inside the switch!
The problem of ignition switch key pull out would be the weight of other things attached to ur key chain! The vibration when ur running and many times u inserted the key, have lost the LUBRiCANT inside.Minimise the WEIGHT of ur key chain so that in the future the ignition key will not have any problem!

It's possible that your key is bad or no longer works. A way to verify that it is a key problem is to see if the 2nd key or spare key works properly. Check the side of the remote key for a 3 digit #. if the key variant is less then 221 the way to reset it is to put it in the ignition and pull it out 5x with 8secs. If higher than 221 then the no need to try and reset remote key.

u must put a key to ignition and open a drive door 3 times and press and hold lock button

Try spraying some WD40 or penetrating oil into the key hole.. Push the key in and out several times but dont turn the ignition yet..
Repete several times - then try to turn it..
Sometimes the tumblers get dirty and stick in there..
If this does not solve the problem - the ignition switch will need to be replaced..

I am having same trouble with 2006 Murano. Ignition will not turn electronically. Manual key won't turn either.

yeah u coul dget one and it will have to be program to start the ignition but to save u some time and coplications just get the key from the dealer it way esier

I have had the exact same problem. There is an ignition lock that probably went off. There is a fuse box under the hood. The fuse that says ignition on it pull it out and put it back in. This should reset the ignition lock. Its a safety feature because the car thinks that someone was trying to tamper with it.
