Question about 1996 Dodge Caravan
Either no fuel or no spark-when you turn the key to 'on' can you hear a buzz (only lasts about a second or two) from the rear of the van? If so, find the top metal rail on the engine that has a light green plastic cap on it, and (with a towel placed over it) remove the cap, turn on the key (to run, not start) and push in the center pin to see if a good, strong stream of gas comes out (use the towel to protect yourself from a gas bath). No stream, you will probably need to replace the fuel pump, which involves dropping the fuel tank. If it passes these tests, you need to check for spark.
Do this (with a helper) by removing a spark plug cable from a plug, insert a screwdriver tip into the boot and hold the handle/metal shaft close a metal surface of the engine (within 1/4 inch). You should see a electric arc jump the air gap to the metal when your helper turns the key to start. If no arc, you probably need to replace the pick-up coil which is located under the rotor inside the distributor, this is the most common reason for a no-start condition.
