08 avalanche power steps have no power fuse good

Do you know there is a electronic control module for the power steps ? assist step control module !

Circuit/System Description
The assist step control module (ASC) controls the assist step actuators to extend or retract the assist steps. Each actuator consists of an electric motor and a potentiometer. The module supplies a low reference and 10-volt reference source voltage to the potentiometer. The ASC module monitors the voltage drop across the potentiometer on the position signal circuit. When the actuator shaft rotates, the voltage on the position signal circuit changes. The ASC module supplies the actuator motor with a 12-volt control circuit and a ground control circuit. The ASC module controls the direction of the actuator by changing the polarity of the control circuits.

Do you know how to test electric circuits with a DVOM ?
Circuit/System Testing
ASC Disable Switch Circuit Test
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the IP multifunction switch.
Test for less than 10 ohms between the listed ground circuit terminal and ground.
• X88/Z88 Terminal 3
• Z75 terminal 1
? If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
Ignition ON, verify the scan tool ASC Disable Switch parameter is Inactive.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 9 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 9 and ground. Verify the scan tool ASC Disable Switch parameter is Active.
? If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the IP multifunction switch.
ASC Actuator Circuit Test
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate actuator.
Scan tool disconnected, test for less than 20 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal C and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
Ignition ON, command the appropriate actuator with a scan tool while using the DMM Min/Max function to capture voltage. Test for greater than 9 volts between the 10-volt reference circuit terminal D and ground.
? If less than the specified range, test the 10-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
Command the appropriate actuator with a scan tool while using the DMM Min/Max function to capture voltage. Test for greater than 9 volts between the signal circuit terminal E and ground.
? If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
Using a scan tool, command the appropriate actuator both directions while using the DMM Min/Max function to capture voltage. Test for greater than 2 volts between the control circuit terminal A and ground.
? If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
Using a scan tool, command the appropriate actuator both directions while using the DMM Min/Max function to capture voltage. Test for greater than 2 volts between the control circuit terminal B and ground.
? If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ASC module.
If all circuits test normal, replace the ASC actuator.

What is ASC

ASC is a brand of Traction Control. It reduces engine power if the wheels begin slipping under heavy acceleration.

BMW used this brand for their first traction control system, which was replaced with ASC+T. ASC+T also brakes the slipping wheel to more quickly regain traction. Later ASC+T was replaced with DSC, their stability control brand.

Traction control systems have been replaced by more comprehensive stability control systems (mandatory on new cars in many countries), which ensure the car is always pointing in the direction you are steering.

I have a 1999 BMW 323I five speed, but when ever I shift to 3rd gear the asc light comes on and the car will not pick up speed

ASC light is part of the ABS system. ASC means slip control system. When this light comes on because it is integrated with the DME or for a better term ECM (control module) It commands trottle reduction. The ASC uses the wheel speed sensor your only fix is get the ABS or (brake inspection) look at The computure engine management thinks you are slipping.

I have bmw 530d and abs asc and other 1 its on after 2 miles i been on service and mecanic sed presure sensor interference,i change presure sensor and delithed all cods but its on agan.

Hi.The problem of your car sounds like a faulty ABS/ASC control unit. It is the common problem of this model cause the Control Unit is too close to exhaust manifold resulting to dammage internal parts of ABS/ASC control unit. But although this is the common problem of your car, I still suggesting you to re-hook up diagnostic tools and double check the condition of wiring harness, plug connections and power supply of related fault codes you will retrieved and if the problem still existing then I recommend you to replace the ABS/ASC Control unit and do Coding for new control unit.
I hope this tip will help you to solve your problem.
Thanks

ABS and ASC warning lights stay on 2000 530d

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

My ASC+T Indicator Lamp lights and car can't move...

When your ASC light is on this is to let you know your Automatic Stability Control system is switched off press the ASC button Till light is off /ASC is on this works with your rev limiter and should stabilized your idle. If the problem persists have your throttle control unit checked as this can trigger the ASC light as well and may also activate the ABS light if not fixed

Asc alwayes on after i changed he ABS box

hello mazeer, when you changed the abs/dsc/asc control unit did you have the replacement coded to your vehicle. Also after changing to another unit, it is usually necessary to recalibrate the sensors. if your vehicle does not recognize the replacement unit, you will have a constant warning lamp. Most dealers/shops charge appr. 1hr to code and calibrate the control unit.

My car is bmw 525i 2000 model asc sensor alwayes on after i change abs box

if you changed the asc module, the module has to be programmed/coded after replacement. If it was a new part there should be no problem programming the new control unit. I would recommend taking the vehicle to the dealership to allow them to program the control unit.If you have access to the programming don't forget to take the asc module out of "end of belt line mode" and most likely the steering angle sensor will have to be aligned
