How to drain my 2006 Dodge Durango fuel tank

If the pump will still run, you can open a fuel line, maybe use hose on line to aim down into a container and drain that way. Don't take any lines loose unless your sure no pressure on the system. Sometimes you can get under vehicle remove fill hose from gas tank, then use a siphon hose in the gas tank. Your local auto store probably has a plastic siphon hose, that has a squeeze bulb on it to create a siphon, so you don't have to use your mouth. I don't know if that will reach down the fill tube? In my younger years, they called a siphon hose an okla credit card. I'm almost 70 now, don't like getting gas in my

My 99 durango will start up but u have to give it gas to stay running same when pulling down in gear

Change the gas filter. If car sat for 2 years without being started, the gas could be stale Put fuel system cleaner in gas tank. The car may need a double dose.

There is no need to bleed the fuel system. Do you want to drain the old gas? You can just disconnect the fuel line at the engine or if front of the tank and jump the pump relay socket to power up the pump.

Miss firing

Hello, Your best action would be to get a free scan at Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance. The onboard computer should activate the "check engine" light and the scanner will identify the individual cylinder which is misfiring.

If the check light is not on, and the engine is still missing, the counter person at the autoparts store may still be able to help you. Sometimes the diagnostics are set to wait until the problems are in memory a number of times before lighting the "check light".

If you have no luck with testing, then you need a fuel sample. This can be a messy job and it is advisable to bleed off the fuel pressure in the lines first. There is a bleed valve on the fuel rail. Then remove the fuel filter, slip a rubber line on the tank side of the filter and briefly turn the ignition key ON. The rubber line should be rigged to force the fuel into a glass container. Then wait for the fuel to settle. If the fuel is clean, install a new gas filter and reattach the fuel lines securely.

If the fuel has water, you will need to decide whether you want to try an additive or drain the tank. Hopefully, your scans will reveal the problem early on. I noticed your car is 11 years old and the fuel filter may be old.

I hope my solutions are very helpful to you and that you have an easy time in fixing this.

Fuel gauge on 1999 Dodge Durango reads empty and fuel light comes on, happend after just filling tank. Checked the on board computer and DTE (distance to empty) reads 5C. Vehicle runs fine.

The float mechanism (or fuel level sender) on your fuel pump may be stuck or damaged. Attached is a digram of a typical fuel pump that is located inside the gas tank of your Dodge Durango.metrocard.jpg
You will need to remove your gas tank and pull out the old fuel pump to see if this is the problem. If you do this I would replace the fuel pump with a new one.

I put new front brake pads, bleed the system and now when you depress the brakes they bleed off all pressure

Bleed the brakes starting form the furthest wheel and work your way up to the master cylinder. You have air somewhere in the lines

My brake line broke under the drivers sear of my 99 durango does the who break line need to be replaced. All the fluid leaked out and you can hear air coming out in the front wheel

Pressure fittings can be used depending on how bad the line actually is you can cut it back far enough to where it is good and use another length of brake line with a few pressure fittings if you do not want to go all new lines however you'll still need to bleed the system brake line to that wheel as well as possibly the passenger side. Obviously you'll need Brake fluid and a few tools.
