Question about 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio
Our 2002 Cabrio will not start. The battery is brand new, so the engine turns over with no problem. When we first started having a problem, the engine would turn over and start, but would immediately stop. I checked the temp. of the coolant and it was high at 230 degrees (the coolant was low and hasn't been changed since we bought the car in 2004). We were stranded at that time and waited for a tow. The driver started it, no problem, after about 1.5 hours. We were able to start the car several times after, that same day. The next day it wouldn't start again. Now, it just turns over.
I've checked all (that I could get to) the electrical connections, hoses, the fuel pump works, and fuses. I found some hoses broken in half (the crankcase ventilation hose) and replaced them, but that was before the starting problem.
Can you help me with diagnosing the problem?
I had this same problem, it turns out the key was bad! Use your other key, and it should work!

Sounds like you have a bad pickup sensor
