There is a switch on the transmission that is stuck. When the switch is depressed it will send a signal to illuminate the reverse lights, and when the switch gets stuck, the reverse lights stay lit. Clean the switch and the issue will be resolved.

You can use LED truck lights so you never have to change globes again.

Hope it helps.

Depending on the year, model and type of shifter that you have (floor, column or other type) it is usually a stuck reverse switch on the selector arm, (floor type automatic trans.) or a switch in the transmission itself (which may or may not be FAIRLY easy to replace) try to get an electrical diagram
for your car/ truck online (you can usually GOOGLE it pretty easily) and then trace the wires down to the switch location. also, if the car is special like a mustang or older/ power truck or such, there may be a blog/ forum for it. good luck!!

It starts, but why are all the service lights on the dashboard lit up?

Usually it indicates the alternator is not charging. Get yourself a volt meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Read the voltage before and after you tart the car. The voltage should go up from 12v to 13/14v. Keep an eye on it. If it slowly goes down, then the alternator needs to be checked.

How com when im driving and i hit my breaks, my reverse lights come on? also my right blinker arrow on the dash stay lit up ond wont work from sunset til right after sunrise, but then it goes off and

check your tailight and turn signal bulbs, if one is faulty it can cause feedback into other areas of the car and cause all kinds of weird gremlins. I once had a bulb where the elements were touching but not burnt out. Dash lights blinked when I put on the turn signal.

Interior lights

The lights are programmed to shut off when you shift to drive or reverse. The other problem may be a defective door latch mounted door ajar/courtesy light switch. Each door has one and the dealer can read them with a special scanner called an NGS

Brake lights don't work when headlights are on. When brake is pressed turn signals go fast and when brake is pressed when headlights are on they are so dim you can't see them plus turn signals...

{: ) Looks like your lightings got haywired. Have you had vehicle repairs recently? Anyway, it seems that you have poor grounding connections for the affected lightings. Some circuits share common ground, and ground terminals are strategically distributed on the vehicle. If these grounds don't have good contact with the body, chassis, or engine ground, circuit functions are badly affected. Thats why these ground points should be inspected and kept clean and tight, maintain that good wire and terminal contacts.
We can start with G100 located at the Left Front of the Engine Compartment on the left front body mount. See diagram below:

wyet_helps_24.gif Check out also G401 which is located in the chassis harness, mounted to the left rear Body mount. This ground point is shared by the rear lamps like the brakes, reverse, and rear signal lamps.
If possible check also other ground points that you may visually come across while on your search. Be sure also that fuses are all inspected good.
I hope we get lucky in finding and fixing a certain lamp function, if not all. Goodluck.

I belive that it should stay constentley light. Try to put it into 4 wheel drive. Put it in reverse back up about 10' Put it back in drive and see if it works...Best of luck

My reverse lights are staying on even when car is in drive

Probably faulty reverse/neutral switch at tranny. Should be approx $20- $25 for switch, and I'm guessing 1/2 hr lab to change. Cleaning contact may help, worth a try, but doubtful.
