This is a system which should prevent gasoline fumes from escaping into the air.
This P0455 could mean something as simple as a gas cap that is no longer sealing but could also mean the a canister full of absorbent charcoal is saturated with liquid gasoline and must be replaced. These are mostly mounted on the fire wall under the hood and will have hoses attached to it. Most look like a simple tin can but can have any shape imaginable. These are supposed to absorb the fumes from your gas tank and then routed via hoses to the intake manifold somewhere between the actual air intake and the engine. They are really intended to last the life of the car but overfilling your gas tank can cause them to be wetted with fuel instead of be exposed only to fumes.
Check your gas cap first; this is the most common cause for this problem and the most common solution is to replace the cap.
