This is a system which should prevent gasoline fumes from escaping into the air. This P0455 could mean something as simple as a gas cap that is no longer sealing but could also mean the a canister full of absorbent charcoal is saturated with liquid gasoline and must be replaced. These are mostly mounted on the fire wall under the hood and will have hoses attached to it. Most look like a simple tin can but can have any shape imaginable. These are supposed to absorb the fumes from your gas tank and then routed via hoses to the intake manifold somewhere between the actual air intake and the engine. They are really intended to last the life of the car but overfilling your gas tank can cause them to be wetted with fuel instead of be exposed only to fumes.
Check your gas cap first; this is the most common cause for this problem and the most common solution is to replace the cap.

I would like to know what the code PO455 on a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor means.

Possible causes
- Missing or loose fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
- EVAP system hose leaking
- Fuel tank leaking
help.jpg What does this mean? Tech notes
The P0455 it's a very common code, because the code is set if the gas cap is loose or missing. Start by tighten the gas cap and clearing the code. In most cases the code can be clear by disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes.
help.jpg What does this mean? When is the code detected?
Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) control system has a very large leak such as fuel filler cap fell off, EVAP control system does not operate properly.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors
P0455 Mitsubishi Description
This diagnosis detects leaks in the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) purge line using engine intake manifold vacuum. If pressure does not increase, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will check for leaks in the line between the fuel tank and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve under the following vacuum test condition.
The vacuum cut valve bypass valve is opened to clear the line between the fuel tank and the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve. The EVAP canister vent control valve will then be closed to shut the EVAP purge line off. The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is opened to depressurize the EVAP purge line using intake manifold vacuum. After this depressurization is implemented, the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve will be closed.

Po455

Check all hoses and fittings from evap back to fuel tank. On 1post in pacifica world the prob was solved by dropping the fuel tank and replacing the fitting on one of the fuel pumps. Then clear the code and hopefully doesn't come back.

Check Engine Light appeared; diagnostics resulted in PO455 code

If you Googled the code, you would find you
have an Evap System Gross Leak

If the gas cap was just loose the light will go out

The evap monitor only runs every few days,so
you may have to wait & see

I think you need to smoke the system & find the
route cause,vent solenoid,pressure solenoid,etc

What does the code PO455 mean?

PO455 Evap System Gross Leak

The old days left in 1981 some 32 years ago

You really have to smoke test the Evap System to
find hose leaks & use a scan tool to actuate the solenoids
to check for bad ones

Without a system diagram your pretty much lost

"05 Nissan Pathfinder PO455 EVAP

If those are fuel lines then fuel would be coming out. There are lines that carry fuel vapor for the EVAP system. If these lines you are looking at are the EVAP lines (sounds like they are) then this would be the cause of the large EVAP leak.

The code is po455.my check engine light is on and sometimes when i start it it seems like it cranks forever before it starts

Hi
The code P0455
Check for a faulty fuel cap,
Damaged pinch or blocked EVAP purge line ,
Fuel Vapour lines pinched or blocked ,
EVAP canister purge line ,or vent valve malfunction .

If no damage can be found ,could of been your fuel cap was not replaced correctly at the last fuel fill up.

Emission test coe PO455

The missing ABS fuse will not set this code as ABS is not part of the emissions system. This code is caused by a leak in the EVAP system. Replacing the fuel cap is probably the cheapest solution if you're lucky. Very rarely will the cap be bad. You'll need to check the entire EVAP system for leaks, loose connections, bad hoses etc. The main problem that will trip this code is the EVAP control solenoid. If after checking the system you find no bad hoses or other obvious leaks you'll need to replace the EVAP solenoid.

The solenoid is located under the car behind the fuel tank on the rear cross member. It looks like a little black boc with an electrical connector and two hoses coming from it. Good luck.
