These are all the result of a too low curb idle setting. When you put it in gear the alternator slows down just enough to feed a less than necessary voltage to all components. I would have it adjusted because eventually it will draw your battery down to a dangerously low charge rate.

Low oil light and abs light won't go off when you turn my 1997 ford excursion off

This may or may not help but it sounds like 2 possible things 1) check the fuse for the anti-lock brakes. If it is not blown, pull it out and check it for corrosion on the blades. I saw this on a Chevy product one time. The fuse was fine but some of the blade fuses have aluminum blades and they corrode when in contact with the copper alloy contacts in the fuse blocks in cars. As for the low oil light, in most pre-2006, (some later), Ford products in the U.S., if you disconnect the battery for 10 to 15 minutes then reconnect it, it will reset the computer faults. In Ford products, if there is a fault i.e., air bag, anti lock brakes, charging system ect., a fault light won't come on unless the fault exists for 2 off-on-start cycles. (I was told this by a mechanic at my local Ford dealer.) I can't explain why these lights are on with the car off but if it is normal for your model, being your car is getting up there in years, it is possible that your oil pressure sensor switch could be stuck or worn out or sometimes the wire to the sensor will come lose. In any case I'd say the oil switch is suspect. If pulling / checking the anti-lock brake fuse didn't help but resetting the computer did, I would check the anti-lock sensors on each wheel. BTW, it is comparatively safe to drive without the anti-lock brakes active as they just revert to standard braking action. Just don't lock them up on ice or an oil slick. If none of this works, you can have your computer scanned at a service station, Ford dealer or, I don't know where you live but the Advance Auto stores and Auto Zone stores around where I live, (W.Va.), will scan your computer for free, (in hopes of selling you something I'm sure.) Or you can buy your own scanner at Walmart for between $65.00 and $99.00 depending on the model you get. Scanning will only work if your fault light is on. If you reset your computer and the light is off, scanning won't tell you anything. Good luck. Jeff M.

Anti lock brake system light comes up when there is issue with car brake systems. It can be low brake fluid or faulty ABS fuse or its issue with brake system or assembly. Your vehicles brake system needs inspection.

After a while of driveing the front brake get hot an the light gose on. can it be the anti lock? sometimes it seems fine.

Disc brakes always get hot. If it seems like one of them is excessively hot , you might have a seized brake caliper. The light comming on is probably unrelated.

I sometimes get a message saying oil pressure is low stop engine if it was the oil pump it would stay on or am i wrong this only happens sometimes when the car is idling I also have the traction...

If the oil pump was bad, it would most likely stay on, but if you have a plugged oil pick up tube, then it would be intermittent. Just have to pull the pan, pull off the pickup tube, clean it out real good and put it back on and you will be good.

2005 chevy uplander having diffculty putting into Drive. sometimes have to wait 5 min some type of sensor most be going bad

check the brake lights and see if they work when this problem happens, U may have a problem with the Park lock system, this locks the gear shift out until the brake pedal is pushed, then a electric solenoid releases a pin and allows u to come out of park, if the brake lights check ok then the solenoid may be sticking at times. Does this sound more like your problem?

In order to put my 1994 lincoln towncar in gear i have to turn the ignition and gear stick at the same time. then the stick is pulled into neutral then i can start car and put in drive..whats wrong with my...

Sounds like the "shift lock actuator". It's a common Ford/Lincoln problem. It's basically a safety device to ensure the car is turned on and your foot is on the brake b/4 you can place the car into gear. Here is a gr8 piece describing the problem
" This is a problem with the Shift Interlock System and not the transmission. Bet you're glad to hear that. The Shift Interlock System requires the key to be in the "RUN" position and the brake pedal depressed in order to shift out of "PARK". This is to prevent possible vehicle runaway. There are a couple of possibilities here. The first is the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch. You can usually tell if this is bad if you have no brake lights at all. Another possibility is a bad Shift Lock Actuator or Shift lock solenoid, located under the console.
First thing to do is check fuses 28 and 32 in the fuse box, if you haven't already done so, and make sure they are good.
78584194.gif To check the BPP switch, check for power at the light green/red and light green wires with a test light with the key in the "RUN" position and the brake pedal depressed. If you have power there, then check for power at the light green wire at the Shift Lock Actuator.
78185284.gif f you have power at the light green wire at the Shift Lock Actuator, ground the black wire. If you hear a click, then you have a bad ground and it needs to be repaired. If not, the Shift Lock Actuator is bad and needs to be replaced."

I hope this give you a better understanding and I wish you the best of luck with your problem.
