Question about 2005 Dodge Caravan

Check Engine Light

Dealership did a diagnostic and said the EGR valve was starting to go bad. Do not have $$ to fix right now (single mom); is this something I can let go for a little while? They said it was just starting to show wear

ERG will cause lower fuel milage to begin with but can result in excessive carbon build up in intake causing multiple sensors to malfuction.

I recommend that you get it fixed as soon as humanly (within a single mom's income) possible and when you do, you might consider an upper intake cleaning. It will help get rid of all the excess carbon

Grand carvan gives p402 code

This is not a cut and dry fault code. This means that more than one thing wrong can set the code in the computers memory. Here is the low down on the P0402 fault code. This is from the OBD2 fault code diagnostic book.

P0402 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected
Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible engine hesitation
Possible causes - EGR solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- EGR volume control valve stuck closed
- Dead (Weak) battery
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit
- Faulty EGR Valve
- EGR passage clogged
- Exhaust gas leaks

How to clean a egr valve from a 2000 mitsubishi montero. I replace the egr valve, but still engine ligth code 403 still on.

Your new EGR valve (assuming it wasn't defective out of the box), is fine, but the car's computer just needs to have its code 403 cleared. Even though you've corrected the problem, the computer will still light the "Check Engine" light, and store code 403 until the code is cleared using an OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics 2) code scanner.
Note that the car will function perfectly with its new EGR valve, a lit "Check Engine" light and a code 403 stored. Its just a good idea to clear the code, so that then only NEW problems will become the reason that the "Check Engine" light gets lit.

Sounds right & check manual for warranty guidelines for your emission system & components, sometimes they are a little longer than 40,000 I believe.

Engine managment light is illuminated and the engine is not running unevenly

its a dummy light and its probly in the emsission system somewhere like a bad O2 sensor or a bad EGR valve PCV valve something vaccuum controlled get it put on a diagnostic machine to find out for sure (the dealership has the best diagnostics machines for your car) also you may want to look over all your vaccuum lines also to make sure that none of them are cracked or leaking because that will make the engine light come on as well.

Infinit check light on

HI, the best thing to o in this situation is to go to auto zone or your dealership for a diagnostic run. this will check the cpu for faults and it will describe the problem as well. after the diagnostic cpu is done, it will reset the check engine light. it will turn it off. I suspect maybe a O2 sensor or EGR valve malfunction.

My check engine lights stays on

Hi, the best thing at at his point is to get a diagnostic review by using a diagnostic computer at the local dealership or garage. Once your car has been diagnosed, you will be able to reset the cpu and the light will go off. its probably just an O2 sensor or egr valve needed.

Low oil compression

if the needle is on or around the letter N then thats normal. you can also change the oil sending unit. as far as the engine light once you change the EGR valve and the EPT sensor the engine light should go off
