Why does my 2001 Dodge Dakota with 3.9 engine and manual transmission not start? I have 50 psi at fuel rail. I have replaced....crank sensor, distributor cap and rotor, pick up coil below cap, spark plug...

First - Make sure that your spark plug wires are connected in the proper firing order, Second - Check your injectors to make sure that they are not clogged and are actually delivering fuel (Some models are not self-priming) and you might need to put a small amount of fuel in each cylinder. If none of this helps I would check the timing sequence to be certain that each cylinder is firing at top dead center!

I keep asking the same question for a 1971 dodge 318-1 v8 engine and get every year but what im asking

The firing order for a Dodge 318cid/5.2L is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 clockwise rotation.
Cylinders are numbered like this.
Pass side 2-4-6-8 front to rear.
Driver side 1-3-5-7 front to rear.
The firing order is probably forged into the intake manifold. Number one tower on the distributor cap is the one facing the number one plug or the driver-side headlight.
Distributor rotor at Number 1 plug terminal points to front intake bolt on left side of engine.

I was surprised to find Dodge still using a distributor on this engine.
The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and the cylinders on the driver side are 1-3-5-7.

My 4.7L dakota has a cylinder not firing. Compression checked out ok. Can you suggest a possible cause?

This can only be a bad spark plug wire, a bad spark plug or a bad distributor....start with the wire....switch one of the wires out and see if the problem moves with the wire. do the same with the spark plug and if this does not solve the problem, you issue is with the distributor. Good luck

Basic tune-up procedures: Firing order, Cap/Rotor/Plugs/Wires, what order, what is the firing order?

Check the intake manifold...the firing order on my Dakota is cast on the surface of the manifold. If it's not there, ask your parts store guy if they have the information.
