The other day I went to start the truck and the batt was dead. I boosted the truck and it started right away but there was lots of smoke comming from the tail pipe. My question is what could be causing the smoke

Did you touch the acceleration pedal, if you did it could be fuel build up. Does this happen all the time when you start the truck. If so it could be valve seal that are leaking.

Or a head gasket would cause smoking as well

Getting a "boost" is not a problem, giving one can be. If there were any sparks involved during that jump start ,yep there could be trouble.Jump starts are bad for the running vehicle. Voltage spikes and general havoc if you try to crank the "dead" car right away. If you have to do that again, leave the cables hooked up for like 10 minutes before trying to start the "dead" one. Not sure why the steering would be affected but yes ,take it in.all I got ,anybody else got an idea?

I jumped car off it crunk on its own fora day, then batt went dead again, this time it won't jump off. It wants to crank but won't turn over.

not sure what you said but.
seems the battery is discharging,? 12.6v is fully charged,
own a voltmeter?
try a good loaned battery , does it start the car,?
i think you meant?
i can jumper cable start my car at any time. (off another running car)
but after running my car, the battery discharges and it will not crank at all. right?
this means ,the charging system on your car is bad.
if the starter cranks great, then the engine is flooded or is in great need of a tune up (sparkplugs etc)
if flooded try the super secret in the op guide, crank with throttle wide open , this magic trick cuts all fuel injection allowing the flooding
to purge away, and eventual starting.
my guess 2 is the car wont start, so you crank the battery flat
you jumper start it and it runs. (luck)
then day 2, same deal cranks ok but wont start.. ever tune up the engine?

Tried to jump start car with leads, battery sparked. lights work but engine wont start

Either you have a completly dead batt. or your starter is shot.. You can not jump a car with a flat dead Batt. but a BOOST PACK will....it's all about the AMPERAGE.
