Question about 1984 Dodge D150
The problem is a restriction in the transmission oil cooler causing back pressure in the system and partialy applying the torque converter clutch. The real issue is what is restricting the cooler. Most of the time the problem is the lining from the converter clutch has separated and is plugging the system.Unless you have recently had the transmission rebuilt I would guess you are about too.Good Luck!

CHECK YOUR IDLE SPEED !!! adjust as needed, look at your trans fluid,is it red?, or pink on dipstick, everything is ok with transmission, and converter!
if it is brown,or black, and has a burnt oder , your transmission has major problems, and WILL need to be overhauled
hope this helps
