Headlight fuse

The headlights get power thru a built-in circuit breaker inside the headlight switch, and the switch gets power from a fuseable link wire.
The heavy red wire acts as a fuse if overloaded.

Wire and fuse diagram for 1982 berlinetta camaro v8

You may have cooked a fuseable link that powers the key switch.
There are two or three links coming from the large terminal on the starter that feeds some of the circuits.

Why won't my headlights work on my 1990 buick lesabre?

On a 1990 Buick you have a fuseable link between the headlight switch and the battery.
Do you have power in and out of the headlight switch and the dimmer switch ?

Problems starting turnig but not turning over

this may help diagnose your problem. with headlights on,try to start headlights dim? if so,check battery for bad.try boosting your truck from another car. check battery terminals for clean and tight. this is a must!!! if battery is good,,,,lights ,,headlights on and turning the keyswitch to start and no dim in the headlights when you turn the switch to start, bad connection to battery,or bad starter,or blown fuseable link in wiring to the starter, check for blown fuses to main,starter,e.c.m. under the hood in main fuse box. also check for a bad fuel pump relay in the main fuse box under the hood.

I just replaced the starter on my s-10 and now when i turn teh key all the power goes off but i dont get even a sound out of the starter.everything is hooked up right and the battery is fine .what could be...

start out 1st by turning your headlights on. do they work? if so,leave them on,try starting the engine. do they dim when trying to start the engine? if so,the starters drawing current. if the lights do not dim. check the starter relay and main fuse under the hood in the black box, usually located under the hood on driverside front fenderwell. if the fuse is good, you'll need to check for a blown fuseable link between the battery and the starter. you'll be looking for a rubber link in between the battery and the starter.the fuseable link will be rubber in looks, but if bad, will crack under finger pressure. in,otherwords,if you grab i with your hand and twist it,it will crumble under hand pressure. BUT 1ST I WOULD BE SURE,I REPEAT,SURE,THAT THE BATTERY IS CHARGED.JUST TO SAVE YOU TIME,MONEY. the battery may be under charged. sorry!i like to cover all bases. good luck! and as always, thank you for choosing!

My f250 will not start. i have replaced the battery checked the starter, alternator& fuses&relays

will try to help. lets start w/ headlights come on? if automatic, are you sure it's in park? if manual, are you sure the clutch is disengauging?with headlights on,try starting it, do the headlights go dim? if so, the starters drawing fire. if not, it's another may have a bad engine groundwire. look on firewall to insure the engines grounded with a wire to the truck body. i'm assuming we are talking about a gasoline motor also, if not, and it's deisel, check both batteries!! have you checked the key switch? do lights come on when you turn the switch on? if none of these, you may have blown a fuseable link between the key and the starter. look under the truck at wiring harness for a rubber hard link that crumbles when you twist it. also look on fenderwells at battery for a blown fuseable link. you said you checked all fuses, also the ones in black box under the hood? i'm looking for my manual right now, if this does'nt help, please repost your question, and add whether it's a gas or deisel please. thank you for choosing

1985 Chevrolet S10 electrical issue

on the big stud you will have about 3 wires they are the( FUSEABLE LINKS) plus the main battery cable
check thoses 3 wires they are most likely the problem
to check them SLIGHTLY PULL ON THE WIRE it will most likely streach and pull apart or there will be BLACK plastic juntions that the wire goes into pull the wire from there
to repair cut the wire pass the BLACK juntions
USE ONLY HEAT SHRINK **** CONNECTORS tape the wire together
reconnect the 3 wire to the starter
hope this helps

Loss of power to headlights. replaced headlight switch. fuses ok, ground ok. still no power to headlamps, marker lamps, parking, tail, and dome lamps.

Check the fuseable links .. they are a rubbery type wire usually on the back of the alternator or starter motor usually in a group with 3 to 6 of them ..They usually have a black or white piece of plastic where the fuse link attaches to the actual wire .. These wires aka fuseable links usually corrode or rot out at the plastic piece under the insulation you hardly see the break in the wire...good the way.. these links act as a slow blow fuse in the system...
