1997 Nissan pickup 4WD, 4 cyl

I am having a problem with my 1997 Nissan pickup, 4WD, 4 cylinder, standard transmission. It started about a year ago. It will just cut out or lose ignition after driving 5 or 10 miles, then after a cool down you can drive it for about the same amount of time, and so on and so forth.
I had changed all tune up parts, there was no change. I then brought it to a local Nissan dealer who diagnosed a bad camshaft position sensor and oxygen sensors. So I then changed the distributor (after market) and oxygen sensors and while I was at it I changed the crankshaft position sensor, but still no luck.
I then went back to the Nissan dealer and they told me the same code for the camshaft position sensor was coming up, so I had them put in am original parts distributor by their people and still no luck. Then I let Nissan diagnose it further and they told me the same code was coming up and their distributor was functioning properly. They suggested I change the whole wiring harness. I've since taken it from the Nissan dealer because I cant afford to have them install a new harness.
I let the truck sit for a while and then started driving is again in the winter months 07/08 and it was fine all winter and most of the spring. Now its doing the same thing again. I just had all the grounds cleaned, but still no luck. Do you have any suggestions??

We had the same problem, and i am a mechanic, so i just put in a new computer and now it works fine. Used ones are $150.00 . The truck was doing the exact same thing and i done everything you done to try and fix it. Also showed the same code. Try changing that computer which is under passenger side seat. Good luck!

dont know if you have fixxed it or just gave up on the truck, however we just had the exact same problem with my sons 97 dodge dakota. his computer had a glitch that would not show up on any scanners. the computer gets hot and shuts down. when it cools down usually 10 to 15 mins it would crank up and do it all over again. diagnostics kept trowing out the coil a code but after 9 of them in a role they desided to check the computer even tho i told them to check it the first time i came up there. after spending money on every sensor, coils, fuel pump assembly, distribitor, and a complete tune up it was just the computer.

My 1997 Nissan 4x4 pickup 2.4L 4 cyl manual transmission KA24E Engine cuts out when it warms up and dies at intersections. I have replaced the front O2 sensor which helped for two days but it is acting up...

this could be caused by several different things.check E.G.R.vave to make sure its not sticking.Check fuel system, start with testing fuel pressure then filter and pump check every vacuum line carefully to make sure there is no cracks or leaks.I assume your computer is not setting a code so that could possibly eliminate your MAF sensor.Let me know whats up and I will check back with you.If this does not work I have more answers.

When driving in 5th gear should the RPMs run at 3000 RMPS. Mine is a 4 cly 5 speed

You don't provide much information to go on (type of vehicle, type of engine, 2wd or 4wd, etc.) RPM is always going to be based on the speed you're traveling with a standard transmission. My 4 cyl 5 speed Nissan pickup in 5th gear runs at 3000 RPM at about 75mph.

1997 Nissan Pickup Won't Start in very High Humidity

Sounds like there may be water or condensation entering your distributor cap. Cheap fix and might be obvious if you inspect its inside.. look for corrosion or moisture.

1997 nissan pickup 4wd, just had timing chain replaced , now have noticeable knocking noise coming from valve cover ? mechanic says need new stack shims on valve rockers ?

Not likely. You have a 4 cyl engine with over head cam. It has hydrolic lifters. If it wasn't making the noise before he replaced the chain, then its something he did...or didn't do. If it was making the noise before, most common reason would be 1 or more lifters not pumping up. If you have a six cyl, no one changed the timing chain, (It doesn't have one!) The 3.0 6cyl has a belt.
