Question about 2006 Kia Optima
The only way to unlock the trunk without damage to the lock is to fold the back seat down or remove it if folding is not an option. crawl inside the trunk and pull the safety release handle. it is usually a glow in the dark t-handle hanging by a small cord. it is there in case someone is locked in the trunk and glow in the dark for when you dont have light to look for it. this will release the trunk latch so you can open the trunk and make repairs if necessary.

SOURCE: locked trunk
For some stupid reason Chrysler put a switch in the trunk that if tripped prevents it from being opened. You'll need to get into the trunk through the back seat. On the latch there is a small white switch. You need to move it to the unlock position. If you can find emergency release in the trunk that will open it and you can find the switch from the outside.
