Hi, your relay must be shorted. Look for a stop light relay and pull it out. See if there is a similar relay you can borrow to push back in and verify that replacing the relay will solve the problem.

If there was changes done to the wiring, it may be a ground wire especially when the light is not that bright even if you do not have the brake pedal pressed. You may have to inspect the wiring for this. Most likely this may be the wire that sends power to the tail lights when you have the headlight on. Inspect the relays under the hood for physical damages the ground connection may be just under the box for the relays.

Where is the brake light switch located on a 1.6 engine peugeot 206

I am not sure on the peugeot, but most of them are in line with the brake pedal. Follow the pedal up towards the pivot point, you should find a small switch with wire attached to it. That should be the switch.

My peugoeut 206 brake lights come on as soon as i turn on the ignition

You need to test the "BOO" switch that controls the brake lights, it is located above the brake pedal and the brake pedal arm opens and closes the switch. It of course should be an open circuit with 12 volts at one contact without the application of the brake pedal and a closed circuit with the pedal pressed down (12 volts in and out), Adjust or replace the switch as the testing dictates.

My peugeot 206 all 3 of my back brake lights are not working

hi the first thing you need to check is the fuse in the fuse box if this is ok then the chances are the brake light switch needs replacing or it may have come loos what you need to do is get down on your knees so you can get a close look at the brake pedal then if you follow the brake pedal all the way to the top just before it goes through the bulk head into the engine you will then see a switch attatched to the very top of the brake pedal it will have 2 or 3 wires coming from it so check if this is fitted correctly also you could remove it and press the switch by hand and then see if the brake lights work that way.

If they do then try fitting it again and you may be able to adjust it slightly so check this if on the other hand it still dont work then you need to get it replaced.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Re my rear lights on the Peugot 206. It's actually the brake lights which seem on all the time that the ignition is on. Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like your brakelight switch (mounted up on the brake pedal) could possibly have a short somewhere, or bad contact.
