My guess is that your "steering affect" is simply torque steer, which is very common in small front wheel drive cars. Now, as for the intermittent revs, these sound like air conditioning "cycling" changes in power demands on engine, after 1.6 is a tiny engine. Now your going to say that you didn't have the ac on. Okay but if your controls are in defrost or defrost/floor position the ac will cycle until the engine reaches full operating temperature and even beyond if it happens to be brutally cold out. This action occurs to put heated ac gases through the condensor (in front of the raditor) to allow warm air to flow through the radiator to facilitate faster warm ups.

My ford focus zetec makes a rattleing noise

spraying WD40 on drive belts is not a good option as it can cause slippage it is better to use silicon spray or ordinary soap, rub the soap on the belt when the engine is stopped,as for the squeak it could well be the tensioner replace it first it may be the cheapest to start with.....hope this helps....cheers

Hi I an Vortash there are a few things that can cause this ... Air at the inlet manifold caused by a faulty gasket ?.... Air leak in the Brake servo causing loss of Inlet vacum ( this would be noticeable with the fact that brakes would be a little spongy but not always and sometimes the engine revs increase when you put the brakes on when staionary ) Faulty throttle cable ... faulty throttle sensor .. best way to find out is to have the car checked out on a Krypton tune machine ( or equvalent ) to determine the fault otherwise you could spend out on un nesscasary parts .. at least the machine would pinpoint it for you .. It is always adviseable if you do your own repairs to get hold of a Haynes manual for your vehicle it will tell you all the best ways of treating most of your cars problems cheaply and efficiently hope this helps Regards Vortash

My fiesta mk5 zetec-s 1.6 is pinking alot loss

dealer only ,pinking is caused by timing being thrown out and its firing too early,by your spelling i asume your in the UK which means that your vehicle hasnt got an OBDII connector ,only fitted to vehicles after 2005 in europe so a cheap scanner wont help .Exactly whats playing up i havent a clue without plugging it in ,if you are in the UK have a middle of scate /chips /and nice big wally for me please
