Question about 2002 Land Rover Freelander
Basically the sun roof has seized due to lack of use. The lubricant used by LR has congealed. In my case, I covered all the inside of the vehicle in protective cloth, opened the sunroof, and then used WD40 with the tube applicator to spray the mechanism. There are two areas here. The guides which the sunroof slides on and the spiral mechanism which rotates from the motor. I had to continually work the the spray into the spiral drive on both sides and then close and open the roof with manual assistance. This I had to do a number of times, eventually it worked ok. However, this year I have noticed it has slowed again. LR can supply a light oil for this but my agent did not know what it was.
Finally, if it really does not work, then when the roof is closed, remove the fuse for it so that it cannot be opened accidentally and the car left insecure.
