More than likely you knocked wires off sending unit - check connections at oil pressure sending unit it's next to your distributor.

I have a 02 dodge ram 1500 that have a rebuilt engine that the check gages comes on and oil pressure was low at a zero then accelerate the pressure went up to 40 then light goes off and checked oil level...


If you paid someone to rebuild the engine, you need to go back for warranty work. If you did the work, you need to put on mechanical gauge, and find out if the pressures is low or if your sending unit is not accurate.

When i put car in reverse makes a winding noise and wont shift an any other gears


if engine rpm advances (fast to 3000), and the car dont move
the tranny is bad (what part , dont know)

so did you get to 3000 ENGINE rpm and car didnt move.?
that is bad trans. its slipping
1: check all fuses
2: check levels of ATF in tranny
3: do the 50,000 mile full flush and filter. change and pray?
4: do the FSM stall test, It fails, bad.
5: step 2 in FSM after above fails, measure (gage) the tranny pump pressure. if bad pressure (2 tests) tranny is bad.

1999 suburban gage oil pressure is 0 when it warms up. rpm drop to 3-4 rpm when oil pressure goes to 0. Sounds good, runs excellent -no noise. Actually it sound better then most new cars. It is so...


I looked at info for 1500--5.7L engine.
6 psi @ 1000 rpms
18 psi@2000 rpms
24 psi @ 4000 rpms

Sometimes, you can use analog gage in place of oil pressure sending unit and double check oil pressure that way. If oil pressure is actually low, if high mileage engine, I doubt replacing oil pump will help. I just wanted to add, check oil pressure engine warmed up.

Is that oil pressure or oil temperature because 120 psi is awlful lot of oil pressure.

could be as simple as your gage isn't working or it could be your oil pump needs to be replaced, if it isnt burnning oil and isnt loosing oil more than likly it's your gage ,if the pump's not working you won't get oil; to the engine and will over heat and could lock up

I have a 1994 Ford F150 5.0L 4x4 and its been shifting hard from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 3rd but it doesn't happen all the time. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I believe it has the E40D...


This transmission was a problematic transmission for Ford. The problem is a shift solenoid and or another valve malfunction in the valve body. The only way you are going to solve the problem is to place some line pressure gages on the ports that allow the taps to do so. This will tell you what is going on as far as pressures are concerned. I have rebuilt many of these transmissions. If you trailer tow a lot and the tranny has high mileage on it then it is probably had it. They are not good for many miles if you put them into hard service. Like I said a very problematic transmission. Sorry I can't help more, but I would have to have the tranny to check the options. If you take it to a tranny shop they will more than likely replace it with a rebuilt unit. Be prepared to shell out around $3800 dollars for the tranny.

My 1997 suburban will not build oil prssure but has plenty of oil and still runs smooth any ideas?


has a mechanical oil pressure gage been hooked up to test the pressure? that is what has to be done, i suspect the gage is giving a false reading or the engine would knock and seize up very quickly.

1996 gmc suburban transmission shift problem


96 gm trucks had a proble with third gear burning out because of a ground issue from pcm..there was a bulletin for adding a new ground for third gear control circuit...aftermarket trans shops do not remember this problem and it is often overlooked..take to local dealership and you should be able to get problem resolved

WHY WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE IT KICKS IN HARD


Very common with the suburbans. The tranny could be starting to go. Worst case senario anyways. I recommend doing a tranny flush and then change fluid and filter. Also check transfter case and rear axle oils.
