Exactly the same problem as described. It goes progressively flat over a period of about 2 weeks. We've tried disconecting the battery and leaving it for a few days, it starts first time, so we're fairly certain it's not the battery.

We've got a hill decent light showing on the dashboard which the dealer told us indicated a faulty sensor on the off-side brakes. This light only comes on when the engine is running so we assumed it couldn't be that which is causing the problem.

You need a voltage draw test run on the battery, unless you understand electrical testing leave it to the dealer, if a draw is found it will most likely be a small light you can't see like the one in the glove box.

I had a simular problem myself...... it turned out to be a bad battery connection, hence it kept sparking and ran flat within days. make sure the terminals are good and tight!!

My 2002 ford escort wont start all it does is make a clicking sound it ran fine the day before it stopped running but that was two weeks ago im not car smart and won't start please help

Is your car somewhere where you can sit in the car and see the headlight beams? Put the headlights on and turn the key. If the headlights go dim like a glow worm, your battery is flat.

That can be caused by a few things.
Something electrical left on in the car. Charge it up, or get a jump.
Faulty battery. New one.
Worn out battery, they last 5 years. New one.

You say it worked 2 weeks ago? That makes me believe that your battery is flat and worn out. For a few quid, you can get a battery charger at Halfords, and if you are going to be leaving the vehicle for extended periods, you might like to invest in a battery maintainer. These connect to the battery and provide a small tickle charge to keep the battery topped up. They use little power.

If the headlights stay bright, then the solenoid or starter is at fault. You will need one or the other replaced.

How do I stop batterry going flat when i don't drive my HyundaiIx35 for a week

There is only 2 reason for this to happen:
1. The battery must be in bad condition, in which case you should have it check up and if needed buy another one.
2. You car could have a short, meaning that probably there is a positive cable live touching the ground of the car. Therefor leaving your battery flat.
To troubleshoot and find out if it's a short, whenever you are to leave you car without a use for a week, just disconnect the positive cable of the battery, after a week, put it back on the terminal and start your car, if it start, then it's probably a short.

Audi TT Plug not sparking, new battery so lights working, Fuses checked ok but still wont start

no idea here iam afraid ,but a lot lot of VW products have like a a big connection block on the positive battery terminal perhaps something here is amiss, failing which try locking and unlocking the drivers door three times then try try starting the vehicle withing 15seconds in casae the immobilisor is on.,This often happens with cars that get a flat battery as i look after a lot of vehicles that are in a long term airport parking and som of the faults are right weird and wonderful .Firstly renew the battery then check what i mentioned but yes the battery if a bit old will not hold a charge then the immobilisor comes on as it goes flat ,also try this and thats to join the + and neg battery terminals together and leave for a while then fit a new battery and try it agin and iam sure it will start

I have to get this car jump started all the time. 11 times since I have owned it. This is the 3rd battery. Infiniti claims I am not driving it enough and it is my fault. I started it up yesterday, started...

How long do you leave it sit between starts? The alarm can draw down the battery, but that would take time. Unless you are talking leaving it for weeks at a time, I suspect a short or light left on due to defective switch such as the trunk or glove box light.

If you are leaving it for extended periods of time leave it on a trickle charger or even try a solar batter panel if left outside. In a pinch, a cheat would be to put an emergency cutoff switch in line with the battery cable, disconnecting when not in use. You can get these items at the local parts store.

Hope this helps.

Hello i have 2001 Mitsubishi montoero sport to day took the battery out and now when i try to start it, it runs for a second or two then goes off

disconnect the battery again, with it disconnected press hold the brake pedal for 30 seconds, leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes. reconnect battery, turn key from off to on and wait 2 minutes, start the vehicle (don't touch the gas or brake for 5 minutes) this is what I did on my friends montero and it started right up and ran fine, only thing I could figure is that I caused the computer to reset and recalibrate itself, but i'm not real sure. worked for him maybe it will work for you... good luck

Battery goes flat when standing for 5 days. Ford

if the battery is one year old and older, the power drains specially if it stays idle for a week or more. if the battery is new, it will not drain fast. there are components directly connected to the battery bypassing the ignition key such as the clock, warning system, etc.

When we turn key car is dead. Car has been sitting for 2 months.

replace your battery, a battery discharges every day you dont run the alt. to charge it up... after a week or 2 weeks the battery would be dead, just from a car sitting not being started... if you are not using the vehicle, it is a good thing to replace the battery, and every couple days just start the car up and let it run a while to charge the battery.... if you are going to have to leave the car for a while without starting it, then disconnect the battery, and remove it from the vehicle... you can buy a cheap trickel charger for the battery when it is out that will keep it charged till you decide to put it back in.... hope this helps you...

Car batterys cant all be faulty?

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Simple test called acquiescent current drain test
Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery.
Place a 20 amp meter inline, (poss to battery lead, neg to battery)
And see if you have any more than a few milliamps of drainage for radio memory etc.
Anything like 0.25 amps or more and you have a component on the car that is ON.
Boot light, is it going out? 5w bulb in a 12v circuit = 2.4amps so a 75ah battery = 30 hours to dead flat.
Do you have electric windows? Is one still trying to close as in stuck relay or switch? (Had that on a porker 924) put your ear to the doors and listen for the hum.
Test 2, fully charge battery but leave car with alternator wires disconnected. Still goes flat, it’s on the car, no? It’s the alternator.

Hope that helps, Pete
