How to replace thermostat in 3.6 vz commodore 95 model

Not fimiliar with commodore engineering (im from the US, we dont have those!) but follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the engine, theres the thermostat. Remove everything thats in the way of removal, swap the thermostat then reassemble. Sorry if this is to vague to help, but for some people, this would be the only clue they need to just hop into it!

Car runs hot loses water.then it will be ok cant find the water pump to replace or the thermostat

The water pump is hidden behind the timing belt cover. The water pump and timing belt and crankshaft are all connected through the timing belt. The thermostat is located to the right side of the engine. You'll be able to tell if its the thermostat housing by 2 clues. 1 is the dome shape the housing has, and 2) is the hose going to it from the radiator.
If you are not familiar with changing the timing belt, please pay close attention to the timing setup. If you wish to tackle this job, spend 30 bucks on the manual and read up on it first.

The cyl misfire is a clue. most likely you have head gasket leakage. Have a auto shop do a BLOCK-TEST it will test the cooling system for combustion gases.

Are you sure it's the t-stat, if your losing coolant, fix the leak, (hose, radiator cracked, heater core leaking) these cars are a pain to put coolant in, there is a 10 mm at the top housing that needs to be open when filling the rad. sometimes it takes awhile to get it out, the fans should kick on, check to make sure there is coolant flowing by checking the upper and lower hoses to see if there hot, t-stat is in the lower hose housing.

You might try replacing the thermostat. Hows the heater work? That will give you a clue. A stuck or defective thermostat will cause poor fuel mileage and poor heater performance. This vehicle needs a
192-195 degree thermostat to operate correctly.
