You need to specify if you have an automatic (then fluid, not oil) or manual transmission. Don't put any 'oil' in an automatic transmission.

If this is a automatic then the filler tube is also the trans dipstick tube located on the passenger side of engine compartment toward the rear of engine, check with engine running. If it is a stick shift then you have to acess the filler plug under truck on side of trans.

i think you need to have your transmition checked , your transmition may need a serious overhaul ,you may have electric soliniods inside transmition that are ceasing due to not having oil changes regularly , but first thing you may try , is to have filter replaced and oil and see if this helps , if you transmition filter is not reachable by removing oil pan , then gearbox will need to come out .

How do I top-up the transmition oil in my 1988 Mitsubishi Lancer. I can locate the dip-stick, but not the location for topping up the oil. Regards Ian

Use a funnel and put in the transmission oil through the transmission dipstick tube. Don't put too much. Insert transmission oil in increments just to be sure.

most transmissions don't have drain plugs any more. Have to drop oil pan to drain fluid.
Some don't have dip sticks either.
