Question about 2001 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

The blower for the A/C keeps going out. The first time this happend,, i thought the AC had gone out,, but then a couple days later it started blowing again. Last week, my battery went out and so i replaced it. Once the new battery was in,,, the blower wasn't working again!!!! The compressor does turn on and so forth,,, but the actual fan that blows air into the car does not turn on. The fact that this happened in the past, and fixed itself a few days later really baffles me and i have no clue what the problem could be.

Hi, an intermittent blower can be caused by either the switch or the motor itself. To find which it is, try messing with the switch to see if it will misbehave. If not, then the next time it doesn't work, try hitting the motor. Unfortunately your blower is behind the glove box, but maybe you can just pull the glove box past its stops and reach back to hit the motor with your fist. It hitting it makes it start, the motor has a dead spot on the commutator and should be replaced. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Blower fan

I had a 1997 Lesabre and it did the same thing so my mechanic rewired from under the dash and installed a separate on - off switch fastened under the dash. Mine would shut itself off in the winter so we had no heat or defroster. The only thing you had to operate the blower manually. I don't know why but the speed control still worked.

1995 Pontiac Grand AM SE. Heater fan works for weeks then won't go, try a couple hours later then it goes.

It sounds like the brushes on armature for (blower motor ) are worn. Sometime a bad spot on the armature from not being used often and also by being in the engine compartment where it is exposed to condensation. When the brushes stop at that particular spot, the blower will not start spin process unless it draws alot of current that may be why the fuse blew. You can remove the blower and examine or just make the change.

I own a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. It has about 75,000 miles. Recently on a long trip, the blower for heat simply went out. I turned it off, and 20 cold minutes later tried it again, it worked. For...

there is a blower motor resister. it creates a lot of heat sometimes melting the electrical plug. check the plug for signs of melting and check the resister for deformation. Both parts can be purchased at rockauto.com

1996 jetta- electrical problem, AC/highbeams

You need to have a look at your AC switch , dim and bright toggle switch and also the relay system on your fuse box and check for relays that might be heating up and the possibility of water ingress onto the fuse box which have been a vw problem for many years and if you dont find any problem there then start looking for electrical harnesses that may be chafed or broken and shorting out inside the harness but the fact that you can trigger it off points to a relay.

1998 Astro Van Heater AC Blower only works on medium & Low

Yes, in high it bypasses the resistor and uses a high blower relay. But I think on 1998 Astro the High relay and the resistor are built together. It should be mounted in the blower box real close to the blower motor.

Car wont start, contstant ticking from engine.

Locate the ticking noise. It is a relay that has gone bad.
