Do you have power? lights work, radio plays at same time? when you turn key do they all stop or lights go out? if so then you most likely have a bad starter selonoid. check this first. If all above still work and stay on then check the park switch starter relay located under hood in the fuse relay box. I believe # 6 on the relay side, try replacing the relay with the #2 relay and see if it works. #2 is air cond relay. Best of luck, make sure all battery and starter connections are tight and clean.

Will not shift into park at times

If you need to turn off the key to put your car in park...bring it into the dealer ASAP and have them check the shift cable or linkage for alignment. This can turn into a potential dangerous situation.

Locks up

Hi,
1. Ensure the gearshift lever is fully in Park. Put foot on brake and move lever fully into Park and try to turn key.

2. Ensure steering wheel isn't locked. Put key in and turn steering wheel to the left and/or right to see if key will turn.

DO NOT FORCE KEY or it may break!

Ignition switch won't release key when it is put in park. But when I removed switch and key tumbler, the key tumbler/cylinder releases key. Why won't the key release when it is in park?

Most newer models have a safety feature called
shift interlock. This prevents the key from being turned back
to the lock position if you forget to place the gear selector in park.
Depending on the model,
If it uses a cable, it may be sticking or needs adjusting.
If it uses an electrical solenoid. may be blown fuse or park switch.
Tap, shake, and pull up on the shifter and make sure it's in park.

Try putting foot on brake turn key on then put it in park. The key will not come out unless the shifter is in park.

The steering column did not lock, the car is in

1. Make sure the car is fully in PARK.

2. Put the key into the ignition and turn the wheel each way while trying to turn the key.

This can happen when there is pressure on the wheels, like when you park with your tires turned to one side.

Stuck in 'park'. When I got home and put the car

See a honda dealer or remove console to get to shifter solenoid. Also adjust cable to get key out of ign. We always would pull shifter back and push it foward firmly into park to get them to release key.
