You'll need to replace the belt tensioner as it is probably weak and not keeping the correct tension on the belt.

Replace the belt - a loose belt won't spin alternator fast enough to charge (thus = battery light) loose belt also runs your power steering.

Power steering

Have you inspected the belt? It is probably stretched or damaged...the belt turns the power steering unit, and charges your battery via the alternator...(low battery light) Did you drive through some deep water last night? Be sure to inspect this so you do not get stranded. Hope this helps.

Battery and break indicator showed up and power steering went out all at the same time

Are you sure the drive belt is still on the engine ?
The battery light usually comes on when the alternator is not charging the battery, and the power steering is also belt driven.
The brake warning light can come on when the brake fluid is low, but also when the battery light comes on.

Last night, I was driving and smelled something hot and then the battery light came on and the power part of steering and brakes went away. It is very cold here. The lights are still working. Could it be...

Check to see if the belt [ s] are still on the motor. You may have had something seize and break the belt that powers these items. There is also a seperate belt that powers the A/C [ lower right side of engine ].

Power steering went out while driving and battery

If the belt gets wet and flies off, or starts to slip, the power steering and alternator will stop spinning causing this condition.

Check belts to see if they are still on the truck and spinning the pulleys of the alternator and power steering pump.

The battery light went on but the battery is less than 2 year old and now the power steering fluid light is on..the steering wheel made a noise when i turned it.

check belt may be worn or loose -check power steering fluid level if low will cause binding and can cause belt to slip if alternator going bad can cause same or idler[tension] pulley going can cause slippage but most likely belt is worn and needs replacement

Car stalled, no brakes or steering..battery charged but no ignition

I will need more information if you don't mind. Was your vehicle overheating at all? Was it daytime or at nite when it died? If it was nite, did you notice if it happened to die when you turned on your lights or rolled down an electric window? How many miles are on your vehicle? When was your last tune up? Are all your fluid levels full and have you ever had a timing belt replacement?

Air conditioner & power steering went out at the same time. Battery light came on at the same time the A/C & power steering went out.

check the drive belt is it still there. I've seen some alternators loose the pulley and destroy the belt

Steering really heavy on my renault master van

Hi

Sounds very much like a loose, or split pulley drive belt.

Open the bonnet and check, I am pretty sure this is where the problem lies.

You just need a new belt !

Good Luck !

Please give me a FixYa rating Please !
