1976 VW Van Battery

OK, call me blonde but I can't find the battery in my van. Looked in the engine compartment where the manual said it should be and there isn't one so I'm at a loss. (The website forced my selection of product to 1986 - that's not correct)

The battery should be under the front passenger seat. Move the seat forward as far as it will go, and you'll see a metal plate (may be under the carpet), which comes off with four Phillips screws. To actually get the battery out, you will need to remove the seat.

A prior owner may have moved it. The 76 should have the battery in the engine compartment on the right side. If it's a camper, try looking under the rear bench seat.
Otherwise, following the heavy cable from the starter would be the best bet.

Back then VW was pretty darn good at hidding the battery. I would try lifting the rear seat bottoms. That is where they usually hide the battery. If it is not there, try opening the engine compartment and follow the thick wires from the starter, or alternator. It is most likelylocated near the back of the van, on the inside, below the rear window.

Van will not start, fuse for digital trans range sensor blown, replaced, blew again. checked battery and starter, was OK, now the starter will not spin nor engage. (will engage when I jumper out)

digital trans sensor faulty
now check ecu fuse and starter relay

is the engine check light on

if you jumped battery terminal to battery terminals and did no earth the jumper to the motor of the van
that would blow the big fuses in the engine bay cluster or fry the engines ecu module

Wiring diagram 1976 chevy 3/4 ton van

Disconnect the small purple wire at the starter and see if that stops it. If not, replace the starter. If it does you will have to test the rest of the starter circuit.

I am having electrical problems withmy 2001 town and country mini van

Wow! Sounds like you've got a winner there! Ok, first, the mechanic you brought the van to... If he can't fix it because there's no check engine light on, leading me to believe he's not a mechanic, more like a guy who gets dirty falling down in the shop a lot! Sorry but that's annoying to me! Time to look in to a new shop! The good news is that it sounds like you're doing pretty well on your own!
To the problem(s)...
First, have you verified that your battery is good? Remove it, bring it to a parts store and have them load test it. Next, verify your battery cables are good, terminals clean and tight, free of corrosion and where they attach, starter, fuse box, grounds are also clean and tight. Also, have you done a tune up lately? All of these issues can make your van do what you've described and before you start throwing money at the van, start withe the basics I've listed. You're ecm doesn't sound like it has any faults at all. Start with what I've suggested. If you have no improvements, I have a lot more we can try! Don't give up and don't feel bad! I've had a similar vehicle code telling me the crank sensor was bad, it was just a set of plugs! Good luck! Please let me know how you make out!

2001 dodge grand caravan sport.Grandkids left light on and killed Battery. Jumped the van got it started notice this morning going to work my Radio and speedometer isnt working.Checked fuses but none...

Make sure to check the engine compartment fuses and the inside fusebox, if all the fuses look good then try to unhook the battery and then connect it back on and start the van and see if this helps. the radio is it asking for a code, if this radio has antitheft then you will need to install the code to make it work, look at manual and it will tell you how to do this. the code is entered using the preset staition buttons, there should be a card in the glovebox with the radio code if it has antitheft. if you find no bad fuses then you may have short out the cluster jumping it, but most of the time it just needs a fuse or reseting by removing neg battery terminal for about 2min, good day let me know the outcome.

1994 2500 dodge van won't start with a fully charged battery, wonder if trouble is in the solinoid, and where is it located on van

The starter relay should be located on the drivers side firewall in the engine compartment. It is a small square relay, 2"x 2" (approx.) with 3 or 4 wires connected to it.
