Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Open Question

I have an Impala 03; the car doesn't have any problems in the night or in the morning (when there's sun light), however between 2 - 5pm, that's when I noticied the failure. The headlights start flashing constantly and there's a clicking sound and the stereo flashes, just like when the DRL activates. This will continue, until I manually turn the headlights on. The clicking goes away and the flashing stops, but after some minutes, the battery warning light appears for a few seconds in the dashboard every 2-3 minutes... after that, when I get home and turn the car off, the headlights continue flashing. I need to disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining. What could be causing this? Could it be the DRL relay? Perhaps the sensor in the dashboard?

Thanks for your reply, but the link doesn't show any information on how to solve the problem.

Just in case someone has the same problem... the problem was caused by the BCM.

Check your DRL relay that is located in the fuse box. Also check the connector under the battery box for corrosion. (Not a smart place to put a connector) GM really messed up with the wiring on the 98-00 cavaliers headlights.

Something is staying in the on position to eat you battery in the night. Try disconnecting battery for about 20 minutes to see if that will allow whatever relay is open to reset and close. Also aftermarket alarm systems and stereos can cause this issue.

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500, everyday i go out in the morning the battery is dead. bought new battery and put in a new alternator, truck still is dead each morning. anyone have a clue what would be...

Check your convience and vanity type lighting to be sure they are shutting off( underhoodlight, glove box, back sun visor mirror lights, etc...). Next you can use a clamp on amp draw gun and follow the draw thru the harness to the problem. This tool is available at most auto parts stores. Also, just because a battery is new doesn"t mean it Good!

Two different problems. The most likely cause of the dash lights is a faulty headlamp switch. Your issue is a common complaint. The radio is another problem entirely. I would need more information before I could attempt any answer at that.

Recently my dash bored lights went out on my 03 chevy impala, i cant see the speed odometer nor the rest of the dash lights at night

I would recommend that you check the fuse panel. If the fuses are good, then check the instrument light dimmer switch, if it is bad then the lights will not work. Sometimes they just need to be unplugged and replugged as they lose connectivity. Good luck!

Lights go out at night while driving only twice in a month [03 impala]

I highly suspect dimmer switch (lever to flip high to low beams) common problem w/GM. I'd start there

Headlights (low-beams) go out at 7pm everynight

check to make sure both low beams are not burnt out. it would not be the first time i have seen this.then you want to check relays if the light bulbs are good.

2002 Impala, headlights work however they blink

This may be the start of a worse problem that the Impala eventually developes. The Body Control Module has a design flaw along with the Passlock anti-theft system. You may get away with just replacing the BCM for now. It needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer and the car will not start if you replace the BCM without reprogramming it. I would also recommend against replacing it with a remanufactured one. Repair cost is going to be around $500 at the dealer.

If the Passlock system is also at fault, add another $500 for a new ignition switch and cylinder. If you haven't experienced random starting problems yet, they are coming soon. When you turn the key, nothing happens. I thought my 2002 Impala may have been immune to these problems that I've heard about constantly, however, at 90,000 miles, it became "possessed". The symptoms started slowly and got worse. Beside the interior lights flashing like strobs in the middle of the night (while the car was not running), the headlights would occasionally click off and on a few times while I was driving at night.

The relay switch you hear clicking is the Battery Rundown Protection relay. I'm suprised your battery hasn't drained to the point where the car will not start in the morning.
