Hi, there is an aluminum line running from the firewall to the compressor. This is the larger of the 2 lines coming out of the firewall. Along that line you will find a valve with a cap on it. The valve looks like a tire valve but larger. There is another valve along the other line, but that valve is larger, and your recharge hose will not fit that one. Sometimes the valve is mounted to the dryer/accumulator, but basically there is only one valve that your hose will fit on. Lat me know if you can't find it, and I'll try to find a pic for you.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5833579-auto_truck_c_recharge .

The AC in my 2003 VW Convertible is not chilling enough. What can I do about it?

Your system may just be low on freon. Most auto parts stores sell 134a freon for about $10 a can. If you visit an Autozone store the parts counter personnel might also show you how to add freon to the VW Beetle, it's not hard once you know where the correct port is located. You simply start your car, connect the freon dispensing hose to the AC port (there are two (2) ports, but the hose connection will only fit onto the smaller of the two (2) ports - the low pressure side). Allow the car to run while the can is discharged into the AC system, generally takes 10-15 minutes. Most dispeners have a freon pressure gauge on the hose portion that attaches to the can. Never disconnect a partially empty can unless there is a shutoff valve, and the valve is closed all the way. Better to add the entire can to the AC system.
If you have never added freon to your 2003 VW Beetle, that's the most likely problem. You could also have developed a slow leak in the compressor or AC lines, so I recommend adding freon WITH a sealant in the same can just in case.

The job would cost between $45 and $65 if you take it to a reputible mechanic to perform. That usually includes a full blown pressure test of the AC system. and a whole list of costly recommendations.

Ac on 2003 chevy

Could be out of freon gas. If you add a can or two see if compressor turns. If out of gas you must trace down leak and repair. Check fuses in your owners manual also before checking freon. Attached is a picture of the hose available at any auto parts store to add a can of freon.

Low ac refrig is on center console should i add freon or could it be a compressor problem.

You have a leak somewhere in the ac system. I'd add some freon for now, but you need to get the leak fixed eventually. Just go get a can of freon and follow the directions. It's really easy

Where is the valve to add freon

I am a certified AC tech letting you know that it is a felony to work on an AC system even if it's your own. To add incorrectly can not only be an expensive mistake but even deadly. Refer to a shop.

My ac blow out hot air and i want to put freon in my self and want to know how

Adding freon will not correct the problem. If you need to add freon, you have a leak, and you have moisture in the system, the leak should be located, mositure removed, then freon added. But to answer your question. Open the hood on, the left side you will see a round object called a dryer, you will see two pipes coming from it, one at the top and one at the bottom. The smaller is the high side, the larger is the low side. Obtain a can of freon either R-22 or 134a with an adapter for installing the freon. Turn the engine on, turn the AC to high. Add the freon to the ac using the low side.
