Question about 1994 Ford Ranger Supercab

1 Answer

I went to change my spark plug wires and somehow made a mistake. I can't find a guide so show my how to match up the wires to spark plugs. I think the first 4 go to the plugs on the drivers side but I can't figure out how the other 4 line up on the passenger side. Is there anyway I can download a detailed guide?

2005 Pt Cruiser running poor at acceration

If plugs helped...the problem went away...then it could be a plug getting fouled by excess fuel or oil. Look at your new plugs and see if they are discolored or went with gas. could be an injector problem. It could also be an ignition problem. You moved the plug wires around and they worked for a few minutes till the new "connection in the wire" burned up. Check your plug wires with an ohm meter. Check your plugs for fuel or oil on plug...a sign of stuck injector, oil leak, misfire. Did it really help or was it just wishful thinking?

If i have a 1996 chevy cavalier i have the firing order for the spark plugs but need the order for the distributor or ignition coil

Firing Orders
  • Sending Units And Sensors
  • Starting System
  • GM Cavalier/Sunfire 1995-2000 Repair Guide

    FIRING ORDERS

    Print
    See Figures 1 and 2
To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement.
If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes to reflect how your engine is wired.

How do i change the plugs and wires on a 1996 lexus ls 400

The spark plugs are located in well in the valve cover, remove them one at a time with a deep 5/8 good quality spark plug socket 3/8" drive on a 12 inch extension and a like sized ratchet. Remove the spark plug boot from the plug with a twisting motion side to side with the spark plug out remove the spark plug wire for that cylinder from the distributor cap and match it by length to the new wire in the spark plug wire set, make sure you get the closest one in length to the original wire, this is important. In stall the spark plug back into the valve cover well and attach the long plug boot to it in a twisting motion, use a little silicone grease on the inside of the boot to ease installation, it is supplied with the wire kit. Repeat this for each cylinder and match the individual wire lengths as you go as close as possible to the original wires. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU FIND OIL ON THE PLUGS OR WIRE BOOTS THE VALVE COVER GASKET IS LEAKING INTO THE SPARK PLUG WELLS AND MUST BE REPLACED.

My 1990 Toyota's #3 cilynder makes no difference with spark plug wire disconnected.

Yes you can test the injector pulse signal with a tool called a "NOID LIGHT". You can buy this handy little tool at any auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest for about $5, it plugs into the injector connector and flashes each time the injector is commanded to open by the processor. I personally think you have a defective wiring harness on the engine.

How do I replace spark plugs and wires on chevrolet equinox 2011 2.4 liter front wheel drive

First, I think it highly unlikely that a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox would be due for spark plugs yet. They only have to be changed every 100,000 miles.

Second, you could spend the rest of your life trying to change the spark plug wires on that vehicle and never accomplish it. 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is not equipped with spark plug wires.

Then, if the spark plugs were somehow in need of replacement at this time, I highly recommend that you do not try this at home unless you have access to compressed air to clean the debris out of the spark plug tubes. Otherwise, severe engine damage can occur. (I have replaced many cylinder heads because of DIYers attempting to change their own spark plugs without the proper methods and equipment.)

With all that said, you must remove the ignition coils to get to the spark plugs.

I remove old spark plugs from my Mom car. And put in new autolite spark plugs AP985, and set gaps to.035. And the car is running rough.

    Two possibilities to start with;
A bad plug (it happens now and then) or manufacturer defect, which you can trace with one of the old plugs by swapping one-by-one...or
A damaged plug wire...This is easy to do when pulling the boots from the old plugs.
If one or more of the boots was harder to remove than the rest, then start with those lines...the small clip inside the boot can be pulled loose and this poor connection causes a gap that will show up as a miss in the engine.
With the engine off, press each wire (not too hard, but firmly) into the boot and try to start it.
If it's still rough, then use a continuity tester on each line to find the open line.
    * Remove & Test each line one at a time so you can replace each where it belongs.

Another less-possible problem: One of the plug wires went to the wrong plug...If you replaced one plug at a time then this isn't possible, but it's a common novice mistake.and easy to fix.
There should be a "Firing Order" sticker near the radiator, and again in the owner's manual, showing the wiring diagram for the distributor wires.

I would like to know how to change sparkplug wires on my 2005 ford taurus

A fairly simple job, get you new wires laid out on the bench, remove 1 wire at a time, match up the length to a new one, put the new one in place, go to number 2, etc. I wouldn't think that a 2005 would need spark plug wires, but my ford seemed to eat them up. Every time something went wrong, it was the plug wires, the only thing not covered by the warranty! And they cost over $300 to replace every time!!! Hope this helps.

Just changed spark plugs and now car idels low

I hope you bought the correct NGK spark plugs. I cant think of any car those Bosch plugs are good for. I dont know why it would idle low after what you did. you may try unhooking the battery for a few minutes and reconnect it and drive it.

Changing spark plugs on lincoln town car

Remove the spark plug wires, remove the spark plugs, replace them. Do this one cylinder at a time if you never did it. On that year you may need to remove the upper intake to access the plugs on one side. In that case go to a shop. This would not be a novice job.
