Question about 1994 Mazda MX-3

1 Answer

I Have a 1994 Mazda Mx-3 GS with the 1.8L V6. I have change the distributor cap, distributor rotor. It has new spark plugs and wires, new fuel pump, fuel filter. I have reset the time, as well as putting a new starter in it. I have lots of spark as well as lots of fuel at the injectors. It still won't start. Is there anything that I may have missed that could keep it from starting?

ford had 3.8 engines one with distributor cap .and one with distributorless.so if you got distributor engine change distributor cap and rotor spark plugs and wires.also coil.if you got distributorless change plugs and wires .replace coil packs if they have alot of miles on them.replace fuel and air filter.also run good gas.like exxon -shell -marathon - texoco- good gas make car run better.

Mazda mx3 wont start

VSS or vehicle speed sensor aka cam sensor or crank position sensor. Test the battery and alternator. You should also check for blown fuses, bad wires and grounds on a car as old as yours. If you find it's getting spark and fuel after further testing, check the timing belt. It could have slipped or broke even if it was changed recently so either pull off the cover or at least do a compression test.

Won't start, fuel pump runs at key on, spark at coil wire into distributor is yellow, little or no spark at plug wire ends

Sounds like bad distributor cap or rotor. If ones bad, might as well change both. Take off the cap and if there is a black color on the ends of the prongs, or on the end of the rotor, time to replace. Is it getting fuel into motor?
