The higher the octane the better and cooler that engine will run
but it comes at a cost

F0524C Chevy engine stamp code My father believes it is 55' 265 Cubic inch out of corvette. It doesnt have oil filter on block.

I have not found this number but it is either a 55, 56, or 57 engine, measure the bore (3.75") to determine if it is a 265 (4.3L) Corvette engine codes are located on the front of block just below the right hand cylinder head, they are as follows, F255GR, F55FG, F55YG so your engine is not out of a 1955 Corvette.

Edelbrock 1406 3 years old on a Chevy 350 corvette. Starts and runs great when cold but when it heats up to running temp. and I shut off the engine it will not start!! Has great spark, compression, and fuel....

Check the choke and make sure that the choke is all the way open when hot. The choke should only be closed when cold. The choke can be adjusted on the side by loosening the 3 screws and wathcing the butterfly valve.

94 corvette 5.7 ping and loss of power on tip in.

Sounds like you know a bit about engines, but are you sure it isnt just an octane issue? Try a tank of premium and add a bottle of octain boost. Its all unleaded now no cushions for your engine.
