2006 LINCOLN ZEPHYR DRIVERS ELECTRIC SEAT WILL NOT MOVE BACK WHEN KEY IS TURNED OFF

Principles of Operation
The driver seat module (DSM) is on the controller area network (CAN) communication network. To support several vehicle subsystems, the module permits intermodule and diagnostic tool communications.
The DSM controls the memory driver seat and the passenger memory power exterior mirror. This passenger memory power exterior mirror feature allows the driver to program personalized mirror positions. Once the driver stores a mirror position, the driver can recall the setting by pressing the corresponding memory switch or by using a programmed remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. For additional information, refer to Section 501-10 .

How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN

Driver Seat Module - Memory Seat
The power driver seat, power outside rear view mirrors and power adjustable pedals are controlled by the driver seat module (DSM) only when the vehicle is equipped with the programmable/recall memory option. The DSM is located on the driver seat track.
This system allows automatic positioning of the driver seat to 2 programmable positions.
  • A power driver seat position can be stored at any time. The driver must move the seat to the desired position using the driver seat switch assembly. The driver must then depress the memory SET switch which activates the memory SET switch light emitting diode (LED). Within 5 seconds (before the LED goes out), the driver must select a memory position. Memory 1 is selected by depressing memory switch 1. Memory 2 is selected by depressing memory switch 2.
  • If no memory switch input is received within the 5-second time limit, the operation is aborted and the memory seat position switch (set switch) LED is turned OFF. This also occurs if one of the following inputs is received during the 5-second programming limit:
    • Driver seat control switch
    • Memory seat position switch (set switch)
    • Power adjustable pedal switch
A programmed seat position can only be recalled when the transmission selector is in PARK or NEUTRAL with the ignition switch in the RUN position. A position may be programmed at any time.

Easy Entry/Easy Exit
The driver power seat easy entry/easy exit feature can be enabled/disabled. Refer to Section 418-01 or the owner's literature.

This may need to be done with a scan tool

I just bought a 2004 Volvo xc90, how do I reset

You don't really reset them. Move the mirrors and seats to where you want them, then press and hold MEM and then the button where you want to save it. Like hold-MEM and press-1 and then let both go.
Now you've saved that position to button 1.

When you exit the car and lock it with the remote, it will remember the seat/mirror position with that remote.

If your spouse changes the seats/mirrors and locks the car with THEIR remote, the car will remember the settings paired to that remote.
When you come back and unlock the car with YOUR key fob, it'll adjust the seats/mirrors to YOUR settings again.

Pretty slick. :D

How do you change the driver name and memory for seat and mirror adjustment on a 1997 buick park avenue ultra

I am not sure about changing the name as my 2000 park ave. only indicates driver one or driver two. To reset the memory for seat/ mirror position is rather simple: with the ignition on and the car in park, adjust your seat and mirrors to the desired position. Then press and hold the desired button (driver one or two) until you hear a beep, This is the procedure that works on my 2000 park ave. I hope this helps you.

How to reset anti theft system

KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM You can use the keyless entry keypad to:• lock or unlock the doors without using a key.• open the trunk.• recall memory seat/mirrors/steering column/adjustable pedals positions1 or 2. The keypad can be operated with the factory set 5-digit entry code; this code is located on the owner's wallet card in the glove box, is marked on the computer module, and is available from your authorized dealer. You can also create your own 5-digit personal entry code. When pressing the controls on the keypad, press the middle of the controls to ensure a good activation. Programming a personal entry code. To create your own personal entry code: 1. Enter the factory set code. 2. Within five seconds press the 1 • 2 on the keypad. Note: The lock motors will cycle, locked then unlocked 3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered within five seconds of each other. 4. Enter a sixth digit to indicate which personality feature should be recalled by the personal code. Note: The lock motors will cycle, locked then unlocked. • 1 • 2 recalls driver personality 1. • 3 • 4 recalls driver personality 2. • 9 • 0 does not recall a driver personality. Wait 5 seconds without pressing a keypad button in order to store a personal entry code. Tips: • Do not set a code that uses five of the same number. • Do not use five numbers in sequential order. • The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal code. • If you set a personal code and store it over an existing personal code it will erase that personal code only. Drivers side mirror resets to up position when door is opened on a 2004 volvo s60

That is probably because the setting for the mirror had been saved in the memory along with the setting for the driver's seat position (if your model has programmable memory for seat position. Set the mirror in the most convenient position and also the driver's seat. Press and hold the MEM button on your driver's seat and press any of the memory numbers. This will store those settings in the memory so that even if someone else alter these setting, the mirror and the seat will be adjusted to the memorised setting when you use the remote to open the car.

Setting memory seats on 1997 grand cherokee with key fob

I had the same problem and had to kinda figure it out on my own. I have a 98 grand cherokee and I think they should be the same. Inside the drivers door panel there are 3 buttons... a number 1 and number 2 and a SET button. Hold down the set button for a couple seconds then release. Then adjust your settings on your seat and mirrors to what you want...Then press # 1. If you have another person that will be driving the car do the same and press number 2...

The thing is...........There are 2 key chain things issued with each car...One will be the number 1 driver, the other one is the number 2 driver...So...I would program the number 1 driver first and see which key chain thing works...then you will know the other one will be for the number 2 driver.

Hope that made sense...It is a great feature once you finally figure it out. Sheri

Programming a personal entry code and keypad association to
memory seats and mirrors (if equipped)
To create your own personal entry code:
1. Enter the factory set code.
2. Within five seconds press the 1 • 2 on the keypad.
3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Each number must be entered
within five seconds of each other.
4. To associate the entry code with a memory setting, enter a sixth digit
to indicate which driver should be set in a memory recalled by the
personal entry code:
• Pressing 1 • 2 recalls Driver 1 settings.
• Pressing 3 • 4 recalls Driver 2 settings.
• Pressing other keypad buttons or not pressing a keypad button as a
sixth digit does not set a driver and will not recall a memory setting.
Note: The factory-set code cannot be associated with a memory
setting.
5. The doors will lock then unlock to confirm that your personal keycode
has been programmed to the module.
Tips:
• Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.
• Do not use five numbers in sequential order.
• The factory set code will work even if you have set your own personal
code.
Erasing personal code
1. Enter the factory set 5–digit code.
2. Within five seconds, press the 1 • 2 on the keypad and release.
3. Press and hold the 1 • 2 for two seconds. This must be done within
five seconds of completing Step 2.
All personal codes are now erased and only the factory set 5–digit code
will work
