First of all please check with the car scanner and let me know what is the trouble code ,maybe 02 sensor but l think you better check the fuel pressure or the air leak. for nissan model above 2 litre car it should at least 3.6 bar pressure

My 96 prelude keeps shutting off when hot. What do I do to fix it?

96's are kinda the bad year for our cars being the only obd2 4th gen preludes so for any codes over 43 you have to look it up in the '97-'01 manual. Code 65 is "Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Sensor 2)". Probable causes are an open in the secondary O2 sensor heater circuit or bad ECU. Have you tried resetting the ECU to see if it comes back? If so, you could check for loose wires coming from the secondary O2 sensor in the cat converter going to the 4 pin connector, or if you have access to another ECU I would try to substitute a known good ECU to see if that clears it up. The troubleshooting flowchart is on page 11-79 in the '97-'01 helms manual, and involves checking resistances and for continuity.

I think this could be the code I had on my '96 when I bought it. I tried replacing the secondary O2 sensor, and long story short it was the ECU. Luckily my '96 was still under the extended emmissions warranty, so Honda replaced it for free. I don't think you would be covered under the extended warranty because it was 14 years and under 150k miles. I just barely made it (within a month or 2 and 3k miles) last year.

As far as the engine sounds and rough idle, you could just need a valve adjustment. The secondary O2 sensor just checks the cat to make sure it's working right.

And all auto trans want to move forward when the brake is released.

1997 nissan quest check engine light blinking and runs rough-no power

You've got a bad sensor. Take it to advance auto, orielly's or autozone. They will hook up for nothing and tell you what sensor is bad.

Car started running a little rough, and burning the fuel at about three times the normal rate. So i changed plugs and wires the car is running even worse real bad and if you give it gas it dies immediatly....

Do not do any mote to the plugs etc. Your Problem and it's solution lie elsewhere. The clue for me was your bad fuel consumption and running rough. Your engine is running too rich all the time which means the ECU is unable to balance the fuel air ratio. You do not state what year or model your car is so my answer is a bit generic but should help point you in the right direction. Also have any diagnostic codes read out at the dealer or Autozone. 1) Coolant temperature sensor - if this is faulty the ECU will assume that the engine is permanently cold (as in start up mode) and set long injection cycles. The engine will permanently run rich under these conditions. Check out the coolant sensor wiring, it's connections and the sensor itself. 2) MAF mass air flow sensor - on most cars this sits on collar immediately after the air cleaner/filter on the air ducting. If this dirty or faulty the ECU may assume that more air is entering the vehicle than there actually is and tries to compensate by injecting more fuel. 3) IAT inlet air temperature sensor - located with the MAF. If this faulty the ECU may cause the engine to run rich. 4) Oxygen sensor(s) - these are located on the exhaust manifold. When an engine reaches normal running temperatures it enters 'closed cycle' operation in which the ECU sets the fuel air mix by the signals it receives about the exhaust composition from the oxygen sensors. If the sensors say there is too much oxygen in the exhaust, due to a fault the ECU assumes that the engine is ruining lean and compensates by injecting more fuel. Note that when an engine is warming up the engine is said to be in 'open cycle' and the coolant sensor signal has priorty over that of that of the oxygen sensor.

96 Cavalier. "sometimes" wont start

The fact that you get enhanced ignition by physically enriching the fuel air mix indicates that the normal mix is too lean, either too little fuel or too much air. 1) Check for leaks of un-metered air in to the air ducting and inlet manifold. Look for cracks and poor joints to all vacuum lines including the evaporative emission recovery lines. 2) Check that the EGR valve is closed off at start up: this should stay closed until engine has warmed up. 3) Finally check that the coolant temperature sensor is working OK; the sensor should be informing the ECU that the engine is cold and the ECU responds by ensuring an enriched fuel mix (by prolonging the injection cycle) during engine warm up.

Idles okay, runs rough when gas applied

Either a bad MAP sensor, or TPS. What is the code for the check engine light? This will most likely tell you what it is.

93 Accord Oxygen Sensor Confusion

Did you reset the ECU after changing the sensor? If not you need to (procedure in 2nd pic below), that way the fuel trims are reset and the ECU can re-learn the Short term and Long term fuel trims. this could be the cause of the difference in MPGs.

An O2 sensor will have no effect on RPMs/MPH. the only thing i can think of that would effect this besides changing gear ratios, would be changing the overall diameter of your tires or possibly a slipping clutch.

Check the codes on the ECU. here is the procedure:
