Question about 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Hi i have a suzuki grand vitara 1999 and under power going up hill it smells like sulpher so i looked under the car and noticed that 1 of the spring loaded bolts that hold the y pipe to the exhaust was missing.when i took it apart there is a mushy metal gasket in i need to replace this to make the smell go away and do i need to have the spring loaded bolts or can i use regular bolts. thanks

That round mushy metal gasket is called an exhaust donut gasket. You should replace it as it might be deformed now and not seal. Yes you need to use the spring loaded bolts. They are used so that the exhaust system can flex when you accelerate and not lose its seal.

you have 3 choices. (2 stated, in operators guide , in glove box)
1: ignore, it, and be unprotected. ( or worse , read about it))
2: Get the car serviced.
3: DIY, (iffy at best) but you can in fact read the FSM or read the words
in the web site. login and read. under SRS air bags.
It states to, connect the air bag scan tool, and lots of tests using other toots.

Had a swift with can sensor unpluged motor would start sometimes and not othertimes when it wouldnot start no taco would work otherwise when it did start it ran ok

My grand vitara gives off strong amoniac smell while driving worse while going up hills

running rich the CAT will glow red and stick to high heaven.
fix the rich , cause.
its just doing its job.
cleaning a dirty engine./

Gear box oil refill suzuki grand vitara

what tranny? 5sp manual.
only the 5speed uses, real GL4 gear oil. so. must be.
under car, look up. see box. on right side is the fill hole.
seen here.
here is my filling mine before , new engine install. can be done
with engine, using free gravity and hot lube.
under car view.
its also in the glove box, operators guide.

Look in your owner's manual. I think you have put the A/T switch into the
towing or hill climbing mode as opposed to the street or gas saving mode.

Why does my ten year old suzuki grand vitara 2.00 diesel auto overheat going up a long steep hill. it has just done 400 miles to nottingham and back with no trouble.

Your problem could be anything from Dirty air filter/Loose fanbelt/Thermostat sticking/Full throttle over fueling on pump/or air in Water system (somecars have to be bleed thats removing air from radiator and engine) check your book for that.
