If your owners manual calls for platinum plugs then yes you should use them. Platinum plugs "fire" better and last longer.

Mercedes clk 200 petrol 1999.guys I really need help quickly please. Only brought the car yesterday and already it's a goner. Driving home it was very sluggish. this morning again sluggish....

If it runs good in park or at idle but is slugish when you try to accelerate it is likely a fuel issue. I would start with a new fuel filter. When you press on the gas you need more fuel pressure and if the pump cant get more through the clogged filter you will get that. If it runs bad even at idle it is likely a spark issue and needs new plugs and wires. I would give it a good tune up - oil change, spark plugs (platinum or iridium), plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, PCV Valve and see how she runs after that.

Looking for a list of parts that need to be changed out on a 2006 ford five hudred for a tune-up

With the advent of platinum tipped spark plugs and distributorless ignition a tune-up doesn't consist of much. Air filters (engine and cabin if equipped) should be replaced at 30k mile intervals (more frequent if in dusty climates). Spark plugs and PCV valve should be replaced at 100k mile intervals. The fuel filter is built inside the tank and is designed to last the life of the vehicle.

So basically if your at 100k miles you should replace the air filters, pcv valve, spark plugs and wires(if equipped). That is the extent of a "tune-up" now a days.

What is a good spark plug to use for a tune up

HI. The bosh platinum brand will be the better solution.

Bosch Platinum+2 offers great firing technology, which combines the advantages of 2 nickel-yttrium ground electrodes, pure platinum center electrode and surface air gap technology for optimum engine performance, smoother acceleration and better gas mileage. The key here is "better gas mileage"

I run these plugs myself, and they are very nice replacement plugs

Can't regular spark plugs suffice for a tune up? Everyone is trying to upsell platinum and above and I don't think they are needed. 2001 Kia Optima 2.4 L 4 cyl.

Sure you can install regular plugs and they will fire and the engine will run just as well as Platinum spark plugs. Platinum Plugs do have one big advantage. They will last up to around 100,000 miles and on some cars the spark plugs are very difficult to get to and if you have to pay someone to do it, you loose all you save on replacing regular plugs every 40,000 miles and they may actually, in the end, cost you more than Platinum Plugs. So choose regular plugs if you know this car may not go another 100,000 miles. You will see no difference in gas mileage and power.

Does the car have spark plug wires? i went to purchase some wires but the clerk said my car takes coil packs.. so do that mean i dont need wires for the spark plug tune-up??

So you want to tune it up , but someone has to tell you it has no wires? Have you looked at the engine at all? why do you want to do a tune up? The coils are very problem prone, and you need to use care in replacing the spark plugs, use only Auto-lite or Motorcraft platinum spark plugs, and use a silicone grease in the boots. After you remove the coil, blow compressed air down the tube an dblow out any dirt, before removing the spark plug. Wires are/were never an item for a tune up, unless they were bad. Replace the fuel filter.

2001 Rav4 tune-up should include what?

With the cars computers and electronic fuel controls and ignition controls, about all that is needed any more for a tune up is to replace the spark plugs and or the spark plug wires. You can have the injectors cleaned, or add a fuel additive / injector cleaner in your tank. But thats about it. Check any belts and change the oil.

Tune up

You will first have to remove the engine shroud inside of the van. There should be some clips on the side of the shroud that can be unsnapped. Also, there may be two brackets under the carpet at the base of the shroud that need to be unscrewed. Once you have done this, remove the shroud and you will see all of your wires coming from the distibutor cap. One at a time, remove the wire and plug and replace them with new ones. The gap on your plugs will need to be set to .044 (In thousands of an inch), unless you are using platinum plugs. Platinum plugs do not need to be gapped. Some of the plugs are harder to get to than other so just take your time. It is also a good idea to apply a small amount of anti-seize to the threads of the new spark plugs.
