Why taillights do not come on, but the brakelights and signal lights work

check the fuses for a burnt fuse. the taillight circuit has its own fuse and wiring. its possible the headlight switch is bad but this doesn`t happen very often.

The tail lights, brake lights, back up lights and signal lights ceased functioning. I'm getting no power to the rear of car.

What I cannot find is anyone with a solution. ??????? There are no magical fixes for automotive electrical problemsinh , Testing with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an a wiring diagram . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? What a volt meter is ? Check the brake light relay in the under hood fuse box ! You say the top mounted brake light works ? If so it's not the brake light switch . You can view free wiring diagrams here . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size ! Under system click on lighting , under subsystem click on exterior lighing . Click the search button , then the second blue link. The third diagram down you will see relay stop lamp inhibit ! The power for the stop lamps come from here . Suggest you learn how to diagnose electrical problems .

I have a 2002 pontiac aztek. My rear right signal/brake lamp does not work. When i signal left, the front and rear left lights flash normally. When i signal right, the front right light flashes normally...

as for the faster flashing thats as simple as a blown bulb, replace the bulb and see if that fixes the problem, it may fix the lot because the other symptoms you mention are a bad connection, if bulb is fine check the connection isnt loose or corroded over. if it is simply file it back to establish better connectivity,

Driver side brake light doesnt work but other brake light does changed bulbs still does not work

Make sure the fuses are good. There is a fuse for left and right brake lights. The fuse blocks are under the hood and there`s also one under the drivers side rear seat.If the fuses are good then remove the rear lamp assembly and check the bulb.I believe there are 2 screws and then just pull lamp assembly out.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Brake & tail lights crossed/back-feeding.Wire loom intact from rear to fuse block.

I had a similar problem on a 77 T-Bird. It took forever, but I finally tracked it down to a loose ground on the front rt turn signal. I have also seen a signal bulb that shorted across to the parking bulb side in a dual bulb. Let us know if you figure your out. Good Luck!

No brake lights on 96 yukon

The brake fuse #1 is located inside the truck below the steering column. I am assuming you have verified there is 12v power at the fuse & thru the brake lamp switch (orange wire power in & white wire power out, when pedal depressed) at all times. After the brake lamp switch , power goes (white wire) to the Turn signal/hazard lamp switch & out (dark green wire-rt brake lamp & yellow left brake lamp)

I need a schematic for 1999 Ford Escort Se rear brake lines

start with easy thing first are you sure both bulbs are ok ? get a test lamp
or make one!
get a good 12v bulb attach wires to side of bulb one to the terminal on base of
bulb, tape together now you can fined volts
hand brake on out of gear?

turn key on go inside car above the brake

theres a switch pull the plug off
put one end your test lamp to earth (the car body) and the other wire put to the terminals on the plug you pulled off if you get your test bulb to light its the switch thats faulty

replace switch if you have power at the switch and still no lights make a short bit of wire take back the insulation a bit so bair wire is showing make it in to a u shaped and put in to plug above the
brake that you pulled off you should now have volts(power) in the boot useing your new test lamp
to fned it make good all earthing points its somewhere between the switch and the boot?
if you fine when brake is pressed you get more than one light on its a bad earth
if you have no power at the switch ts prob fuse box fault tthry wll known for bad solder joins
good luck ps dont foget to replace plug

Turn Signals and Highbeams don't work

I just had this happen to me. The computer flashed "ABS system failure" and my steering wheel controls went out, and the wipers, and turn signals/high beams. The really weird thing is that some of the dash went out (i.e. the temperature went out, but the clock didn't).

I figured this was a computer problem, so I just pulled the fuses (the ones under the hood) and put them back in. The computer still flashes "ABS System Failure" but the car runs perfect.
