I have Honda Civic with remote keyless entry. When i try to lock car with the remote the doors won't lock but i can hear the sounds & lights blink as if it working. But when i can lock the doors with my keys. What would be possible reason.
I just brought my car in because the AC was working, but not blowing cold. The emergency brake light won't go off. And the automatic door locks won't work (the doors lock manually but not auto). We just got the call that the entire fuse box under the steering wheel needs to be replaced. 270 for the part, 300 for the labor. !?!?!?!? It all just happened over the last weekend! They said not to drive it anywhere because you never know and all the electric could go!!! Not sure what caused it, but it sounds like I'm not the only one...

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.
1. Turn Key to on position. 2. Push and hold **valet button on the stock radio. **Valet button is skinny bar located between am/fm & cd/tape buttons on stock radio.
Door locks will cycle one time. 3. Press any button on remote one time within 20 seconds. Door locks will cycle again. 4. To program up to 4 additional remotes repeat step 3 for each additonal remote. 5. Turn key off programming is complete.

Hey .. i have a 99 civic also and i found my door doesnt lock unless u open the handel and then lock it and was talking to the shop and they told me things get gumed up inside and take it apart and clean it up with lub .. try that see if it works sounds like same problem
Make sure the battery on your Keyless Entry remote is a working battery.
If thats not it, it could very well be the actual button on your Keyless Entry remote being faulty. But it could also be a relay in the car aswell. Depending on the cost of a Relay versus the cost of a Keyless Entry remote, I would try to replace either/or and try again, whichever is cheaper. The Relay may be cheaper, but your Key-FOB sounds like it could be the cause.
