The ignition module and the coil pack are not the same thing .. i think the coil pack is mounted on the front side of the engine nearest the radiator it might have three separate coils or they maybe all be in one pack . the ignition module is mounted under the coil pack . i would look at the ignition module 1st if the coil are separate and the crank sensor before i would replace the coils . a lot of these cars suffer from heat soak . which means when they get hot and some of the circuits open and cause a no spark condition . which is what the ignition module do a lot .

MY GIRLFRIENDS 89 CHEVY CELEBRITY DIES WHEN TURNING

Try replacing the fuel pump relay, or you may have a PCM (computer) and prom failing. Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there.
Inspect that area for any corrosion or loose wire (bad ground) Good luck and here is a link for you to retrieve your DTC codes and that may help you resolve the car's issue.

Ignition Module Replacement for 1989 Chevy Celebrity 2.8 V6

First of all, number your wires before you pull them off. Pull the wires off, unplug the module. (You need a deep well swivel socket to get to the bolts). Also, make sure your battery cable is disconnected - being close to the starter wires. It's easier to get to from under the car. Make sure you use jack stands and be extra careful. Hope this helps. 68 Chevy Celebrity dies whenever it feels like it

No not the magnet, but the coil of wire that it inductes into when it passes, this tells the ignition module to fire the coil. Yes these fail all the time, they are usually ok until they get hot then then go "open"
