Question about 2004 Kia Sorento

1 Answer

I have Kia Sorento 2004, 3.5 litres. It usually starts, but some times dont want to start, and I have to wait like 30 minutes to try again and it starts like nothing was wrong. Engine light does come on but only after it does not start and goes away in couple of days. The light is related to some crank wheel sensor. No tech. could figure out. Kia also gave up as it starts there. I have now new battery, spark plugs changed twice. One thing I can notice that it does like this when I make a short trip and park. It is normal after long drives. I also notice extensive fuel consumption. When I was changing the spark plugs 2nd time, I noticed the plugs for one side and the other one form other side, as both were contected to each other had lot of black carbon on it. Initially I thought this was the problem, changed the plugs and made sure the cables are OK and connected but the problem was still there. Next time I checked the plugs again, and all or OK. I was doning this as most of techs adivised. If some one can help me, or someone with similar problem. Thanks.

Replace air filter and fuel filter, clean fuel injectors, because when they get dirty clogged with carbon.injectors will leak fuel out at the fuel injectors instead fuel return to gas tank when engine off, fuel will leak down in the engine flood it causing spark plugs to foul.

Why does 2005 Kia Sorento die while driving

You need to run an engine control module scan for fault codes Known as an OBD2 fault code test.. Autozone and others do this for free. If no fault show then hook up a test fuel gage the next time it stalls and see if maybe the fuel pump is failing.

I have a kia sorento 2.5 XE 2004 which taps upon starting up until the oil gets warm. Changed oil 3 times in last 6 months

try draining the oil and putting kerosene in the engine, then run the engine for a minute and drain, this will clean out a lot of gunked up debris in your motor, when you refill the oil put some conditioner in with it like Lukas or Risloan. You may have to do this a few times in a short period to get the system all cleaned out.

I tried jump starting a 2004 Kia Sedona. The lights flash & horn blows, but it will not start. I disconnected the battery overnight to reset the computer, but same problem.

Lights, horn, and other accessories use a lot less power than the vehicle's starter. With many vehicles you need to wait 10 to 20 minutes with the jumpers connected and the source vehicle running before you try to start.
