I need to change the CV joints in a 96 Hyundai Excel. I am reasonably handy with mechanical works, but I have never attempted this before. Is this something I can do myself, or do I need to get a professional to do it?

Not a very difficult job,i would consider just replacing the entire alxle with a rebuilt one.Cost will not be much more than a new joint and boot.Let me know if you would like some help walking through this job.

Check engine light came on after cv joint repair. Coorelates with a transmission solonoid error code. Are they related? just trying to keep my mechanic honest. car has 122K 4cylinder auto trans. Mechanic...

If the cv joint vibrated the hell out of the transmission before it was replaced, your mech is right. the inside of the tranny may need to be rebuilt. If there was little or no vibration I suggest its just co-incidence. did they fillit back up with trans oil when they changed the joint? that will cause all sorts of computer errors due to insufficient oil pressure to activate solenoids. I;d make sure its correctly full.

Clunking noise when turning the steering wheeel

This is hard to diagnose without more details, but I would suspect the cv joint. Tie rods will not normally clunck constantly. Both can break - a cv joint is not dangerous, but a tie rod breaking is. Worth having a shop check it out.

What's involved in changing out cv joints on a 96 grand cherokee?

the joint is fairly easy to change. the hardest part is getting the hub assembly off. you will need a36mm sokcet for the hub nut.i had to use an 18" breaker bar to remove it.

96 model hyundai excel stalls while driving my 97 hyundai is stalling after driving for 10 min ive changed the coil spark plug leads and plugs the fuel pump still work ive pulled it out and tested it...

we had a hyundai once, that stopped and started for no apparent reason , after much looking at and mechanics it turned out to be some butterfly or non return valves leading from the fuel pump to the engine. they were closing up and stopping fuel from passing through , might be the same kind of thing . hope this helps

Hyundai excel 96. Bonnet Cable broken

difficult one but not surmountable, need right tools to remove grille and find a way into bottom of catch ,suggest you call your local mobile mechanic as this sort of thing is hands on and without car in front of me its difficult to advise as iam a general mechanic with a bad case of old timers.but most likely cause is the outer cable has pulled through the end fastening but what end ?? as i wrote its a hands on job.

Hyundai Tucson 2.0L Year 2006

Get the mechanic to check the front CV boots for tears and get them to check the front CV joints. Explain the problem to the service manager. They should know how to properly check them. The shafts usually come as a rebuilt assembly with new joints on both ends, and are relatively easy to replace.
