Why does my ford escort van 1.4 efi rattle from the catalitic convertor

It is possibly that the cat converter has failed and the bits are rattling around in the case. It may be that the noise from the rear end of the cat is the broken bits trying to get out the exhaust pipe and blocking the system

My Mercedes Ml320 has a loud rattling vibrating noise. I think I have found the problem it's the plate above the cadillac convert has come unattached from the undercarriage. Is there a way that

the welds have broken loose on the heat shield. do not attempt to re-weld it, this could damage the onboard computers. try using J B Weld. or some type of high temp epoxy.

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L V8. 4x4. I have a constant Rattle noise under my feet when im driving, it gets worse when at idle. truck runs fine, but the noise is always there. the noise seems to be...

It could be a loose heat shield on the exhaust. How ever I have seen the inspection plate loosen at the torque convertor housing. There may even be a loose bolt on the flywheel.

bank 1 and bank 2 refer to the positioning of the sensor on the car, bank 2 just means the second one, so if you start out at your exhaust manifold and inspect the piping going back, the second O2 senor you find will be the one you need to change, it will likely be around or near the catalitic convertor.

94 Bravada that stumbles and stalls.. won't start when warm..

Try checking the exhaust flow when someone else is pushing down on the gas petal. The farther the petal gos down, the more exhaust should be coming out. I replaced my catalitic convertor at 44000 miles, it was clogged. I had them install a high flow type.

My engine is making a loud rattling sound (constantly) and it rev's really low while driving.

This sounds as if you have a damaged catalitic convertor have it checked by your local exhaust centre.

Gas milege falling and loud squeal and rattle

Most likely your honeycomb is broken loose inside your catalytic converter. If it breaks into smaller pieces it can start to restrict the exhaust outout & make starnge sounds like a turbo winding up.I would replace the convereter & go from there.Hope this helps
