Question about Ford F-150

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Ford f150 and the ABS Light is on on a cold day the brakes work good on a warm day when you hit the brakes the peddle vibrates as if the disc are worped. Does this sound like Iay need the disc turn or try cleaning the sensors and what else should I check. Thanks Don

You need a repair shop to diagnose your
ABS System Fault Code

The rotors, pads etc,I would think you
would be aware of the last time they were
worked on ,as well as have a preventative
maintainance log book for all your vehicles

1998 ford F150 abs light stays on/master cylinder is full of fluid

Norman, The ABS light is telling you there is a fault in the Anti Lock Braking system, could be faulty wire/plug,sensor, leaking/stuck wheel cylinder/caliper, etc. The computer in your vehicle will have to be scanned to find the fault, diagnosed and estimate repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

wheel bearings are wore out so abs isnt working. change them and the abs light and spedo will be fixed. peddle is low because the fluid goes through the not working abs box.

1999 traiblazer 4Wd - the ABS light illuminates and vibration sensed in the brake peddle accompanied with a gear meshing / grinding noise when the brake is depressed at low vehicle speed (<20mph)....

I would have to guess you know the problem

You have an ABS OBD Malfunction Lamp on

So just as you have in the past on all vehicles, you
check for codes, diagnose that system & repair

Braking vibration. more severe at higher speeds/

Might want to have the ABS system checked. IF the vibration is also felt through the brake peddle by it surging I would suspect the ABS system is misreading and causing the vibration. Good luck and have a good day.

1999 f150 anti lock brakes

John, My 99 F150 had an abs light on and I found the right side front wheel sensor wire had fallen off of the inner fender mount and burned the insulation and grounded the wires together, I taped up the wires and tied it up and the light went out. Your ABS module is located directly beneath your air cleaner next to and just above the steering gear box. It is black plastic and silver alumnium. Says Kelsey-Hayes right on and has six brake lines attached to it. As for the rear brake take that drum off again and have someone help by pushing the brake pedal down while the drum is off press lightly and very slowly, verify that the brake cylinder is moving, do not push hard and fast as it will probably blow the pistons out of the cylinder! If is is frozen replace it and bleed and it should be fine. The brake light is probably on for low fluid. Let me know how it goes.

ABS braking

have you check? the master cylinder. sometine when you get the rotors cut they dont come out right because they may be warped or to thin. if you did the job yourself you might have put the calipers in on the wrong side. this happens alot . if your rotors front and rear are fine then switch the calipers to the other side.
