Is the shift solenoid a located internal or external on a 2007 GMC?

It s internal of the transmission pan. There are three separate shift solenoids depending on the model of the transmission. This is a job best suited to a transmission repair facility. They can diagnose the problem and determine which solenoid is failing.

Location diagram transmission shift soleniod & photo of soleniod. The car stays in first gear to long before it changes.Could this be the problem.

We do not have diagrams of this setup, but the shift solenoids are all one piece or rack of solenoids you could say, they are located inside the transmission attached to the valve body of the transmission, to access them you must remove the pan on the bottom of the automatic transmission.

Need to know where trans selnoid is on 97 gmc sierra 6cyl

The 1-2 /3-4 shift solenoid is located at the back of the valve body in the transmission pan. You don't have to drop the valve body, just the transmission pan and the solenoid is held on by a simple clip. Once the solenoid is accessible, disconnect the wire leads and undo the clip and the shift solenoid slides out from the valve body.
Good luck and thank you for using Fixya, Note that most of the time when there is a solenoid failure, it's caused by a faulty wire lead from the ECM to the transmission. The wire harness runs from the ECM on the passenger side fender to the passenger side of the transmission by the Catalytic Converter. Inspect the wire connection on the transmission first before trying to replace the solenoid to save you time and money.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck

How do i change the shift solenoid on a gmc envoy 4x4?

The sift solenoids are located on the valve body inside the transmission.
The transmission pan has to be removed to gain access the the valve body. Once the pan is removed the valve body is in plain sight.
Removal of the transmission filter will grant you a clearer view as well.
This is a 4L60E transmission, in the event you have not purchased the solenoids.

I have 1995 GMC Jimmy with codes PO753 and 758. These mean power problem to Transmission solenoid A and solenoid B. The fuse is blown and pops again when replaced so I know that a short must be present but...

Possible for the solenoid to be the fault, swap the shift solenoids and see if the problem moves, if not check wireing harness for bare wire.

What does code P0753 Shift Solenoid mean?

P0753 means your powertrain computer detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the circuit to your transmission's 1-2 shift solenoid. When the code is active, your transmission runs in a fail safe/limp home mode that only lets certain gear ratios function in the transmission.

The solenoid in your application looks like this
1edc2e6.jpg and it is located sometimes on the side of the transmission, but my guess is from the looks of it, it might be found inside the transmission, only accessible with the oil pan removed.
The problem might be the solenoid itself, or the wiring going to the solenoid from the computer that controls the transmission, or the computer itself.
