Question about 2001 Ford Focus
I dropped my car into garage for annual service and have been told that it is overheating. There has been no warning message on the dash and thermostate has been reading normal. I have also had no loss of power and otherwise the car has been running smoothly.
I am not sure what the problem could be but have been told by the garage that it will need and new head gasket and the head will also need to be skimmed. I am not sure if this is true. Why would the temp. gauage read normal?
Classic case of garage ripping off unsuspecting driver!!! The work they are trying to tell you that you need will cost dearly somewhere around 1200-2000 $'s . If you're absolutly sure that the guages(temp, oil) are normal, the performance of the vehicle hasn't changed and you never have to add coolant, than get your car back and make sure they don't do any thing else to it. GET IT BACK NOW!!. You wouldn't go to the dentist knowing you do not have any cavaties, and then paying for them to drill out something that was fine to begin with. Get it back, and let a buddy go over it, or theres the possibility that the garage played some part in it if in fact your car actually does overheat. Either way, get it away from where it is.
